Thanks this was very helpful introduction to the 4th Gen Xeons. It’s worth noting that unlike instructions-based accelerators (such as AES-NI), the new accelerators require substantial change to the software. Customers should not expect 10x speed up by just getting/enabling an accelerator such as QAT. For example, Nginx users would need a special version compiled by Intel to take advantage of QAT.

Great point and well made. The accelerators will provide no benefit until/if software catches up. Intel probably made a mistake here by not including the accelerators as standard, thereby increasing the install base for software developers. As is, there's not much incentive for ISVs, especially with 4th gen EPYC also being so attractive. - JG

Profit margins are so fat that they can afford to give you top of the line hardware at "entry level" prices.
