Cool video. I thought I had a high mileage evo. My Blue Evo 8 has 215K miles on it and has similar damage to it. Great to see other Evos that are still on the road.

Thank you! Yeah, it’s nice to hear that other people are enjoying their Evo’s for lots of miles also. I know there are lots of people who want the lowest mileage ones, but to me it’s more enjoyable to have one that you don’t have to worry about putting miles on it and having it depreciate in value because of the mileage. The worry about the car depreciating with every mile is gone when you have something with almost 250,000 miles on it

Thank you!! Yeah, I am kinda glad I didn’t keep my original Evo since 2003 because I live in Michigan and I’m sure it would have been rusty as well by now. I’ve seen where the suspension mounts in the rear is one of the really bad areas on these cars as well. That’s awesome you still have your Evo since 2004!! It’s good that you know the history on the car also, that was the main reason I bought my original one brand new because I figured they would be abused and you never know what you’d get if you bought one used.

Wow no way man.. I’m planning on buying an evo in the next few years, less than 2 and I’m really scared buying a high mileage one. Specifically evo 8’s , 9’s… I think 100k is fine even 150k seeing your guys’s car.!
@itsnevo8757 Жыл бұрын
@@KoaIa._. honestly for these cars the main issue is rust so the mileage doesn’t really matter. I’ve seen low mileage Evo’s with rust and my 246,000 Evo has none. The motors and trans for these cars are very easy to get parts for and they can be rebuilt very easily. I honestly wouldn’t worry about mileage as long as everything has been maintained. My Evo doesn’t look like it has that much mileage and even though I have some idle issues, I’ve had several people telling me that they have that same issue on an Evo with well under 100,000 miles. The added benefit to having higher mileage is I’m not afraid of driving it. I’ve had several cars that I was afraid to drive because every mile depreciates the value, with this car I almost want to drive more because mileage no longer matters

@@itsnevo8757 you’ve crossed multiple good points I’ve never thought about.. makes me wanna buy one tommorow 🤣🤣. But thank you so much. I know what I’m getting into and expect some issues here and there, it’s an old car but the parts are either common or like u said, be rebuilt easily so Ty Ty for this advice. +1 Sub
@itsnevo8757 Жыл бұрын
@@KoaIa._. anytime! These cars are up to 20 years old now and it’s a good thing it has the 4G63 motor because that motor has been around since the 80’s at least and it’s like the 2JZ and RB motors where modifying them is very popular so that’s why parts are easily available for the motors, and companies like Team Rip Engineering also specialize in rebuilding the trans for these Evo’s so that’s not really a big issue either. I’d just check for rust more than anything else because that is the weakest link in the Evo world from what I keep hearing. No matter what mileage the car has, if it’s almost 20 years old it can have some major rust issues and that’s expensive to repair, if it even can be repaired depending on where the rust is on the car. I had a 2003 Evo 8 when it was brand new also and back then I would have only wanted a brand new one with 0 miles if possible but when I bought my current Evo I didn’t really mild the mileage as long as it was rust free. Everything else can be rebuilt fairly easily if you are willing to spend a little bit of money.

Rebuild the throttle body, particularly the throttle plate shaft seals. I believe works up in sonoma sells "mil spec" shaft seals for like $20 which are more robust than the original seals.

Awesome! Thank you for the advice! I’ve gotten it to stop idle surging but I have to set the idle to 1500rpm to keep it from stalling out. I just placed an order so hopefully it doesn’t take too long to arrive. Thank you!!

Got you beat. Mine has 278,000 but is in near perfect condition, probably because I'm the original owner. I had the engine rebuilt and tuned by WORKS and it's my daily driver. Always getting looks and offers to buy it. California car, so no rust
