I really like the presentation style to lay out your plan for the chase and references to the branch. It really helps. Thank you.

The old P&E boxcar is great. Brings back old memories. I once caught a B&O(chessie) train on the P&E back in 1983. West of Arcanum , OHIO. Due to segmenting of track, and CR ripping up the P&E, the P&E from Arcanum west to a grain mill was given to Chessie. The train had a C&O and a Chessie paint. Both early GPs. The old diamond of the P&E/D&U(Dayton & Union)still stood and used until they ripped the track in the early 90s. A train going to this grain mill from Dayton, left the B&O, north to the Dayton and Union, west on the PRR(Pittsburgh to StL.) to Dodds, north back on the D&U to Arcanum, cross the P&E, then connecting back to the P&E on a connecting "wye" track, then west on the P&E. A convoluted way to serve a mill. We used to hang out some at the very end of the P&E just west of Springfield , OHIO. The P&E/ERIE(from Marion)and the NYC Columbus to Cincinnati all came together. There was a NYC tower here called Cold Springs. We even made it inside a few times. Friendly operators too! Tower is long gone.

Thank you for all of that insight!! I was unfortunately not around during that time I would have loved to have railfaned during the Chessie era. Glad I could take you back on a nostalgia trip

Very nice video! I saw them in Lititz once or twice, but I didn't have time to stay. Do you know what their schedule is like? (btw, where was the last clip recorded?)

Litiz secondary runs Monday-Friday except for holidays. The train passes Manheim anywhere between 9-10 AM it varies usually. But if you want to see the train in Litiz it’s best to get there around 10 or 11 and wait for it. Occasionally they run on Saturday nights but very rarely. The last clip was recorded just outside of Litiz Springs Park, there’s a crossing there.

Nice documentary. I want to see the East Penn running, but I don’t think it’s often. I think they probably run as needed and I assume the Reinholds crew would just drive down to switch that. I think the only industry that takes covered hoppers anymore is Chemgro in East Petersburg, but very rarely if at all anymore. I quite like the Lititz secondary as it goes through my hometown. That line and the Landisville Railroad I’d see pretty often, I even went to school across from the Landisville Railroad

That used to be the old Reading line, the station in manheim was a Reading station, not a Pennsylvanian!
