We are excited to announce our May, 2021 Artisan of the Month: Peter Nettesheim! Peter bought his first bike in 1979, and he has since created the world’s largest collection of BMW motorcycles. According to Peter, he has virtually every regular production model from 1923 through 1970 and another 35 or so of them after that date... He has now amassed a collection of more than 120 BMW cycles, including 10 cars...with 90 of them in perfect running condition thanks to his talent and immense dedication. His passion is to collect and refurbish old and classic BMW motorcycles and vehicles. This is the reason we’ve selected him as our feature Artisan for May, 2021, in alignment with our exhibit, Shifting Gears, which focuses on the art of the automobile. Watch this interesting video to learn more about Peter's story, museum and affection for his craft 🔧. . His massive (and truly wondrous) collection of bikes, cars, artifacts and BMW memorabilia are displayed in his meticulously and whimsically handcrafted museum, located at his home in Huntington, NY...which yes, you get to see sneak peaks of in this video!
Peter will have two 1928, classic BMW motorcycles on display at the Reboli Center until July 18th. One is in its original condition while the other has been delicately refurbished. He probes the question to the viewer, which one do you prefer? Visit our Center during business hours to see Peter’s motorcycles in greater detail. There is no admission fee and no reservations are required. To learn more about Peter, his museum or our exhibitions, please visit: www.rebolicenter.org
