Pat, in one of your recent videos or streams you talked about how you wanted to show the abilities selection process to keep it more interesting and yeah I totally agree this was way more fun watching you guys randomize the ability and then hearing your thought process as to why each thing was chosen. Great call. Also- I personally really like the the team recaps but I can see why viewership drops off. I liked how you focused on the style of the set / the playstyle of the mon and one major move instead of every single detail.

It is, but gale wings got nerfed in S/V to that it only works if your hp is at full health.

@nathanward117 That nerf goes as far back as Gen 7, first off. 2nd, we're well aware of this, we're just saying that Sceptile is the only pokemon among the group that could've made proper use of the ability.

Here's an idea: Opponent blindly picks your starter and you randomize your ability immediately. *_BUT!_* You can reroll your ability _as many times as you wish,_ *at the cost of 10 BST on each stat.* So if you reroll twice, you lose 20 BST in each stat. You sure you wanna reroll that mediocre ability, at the cost of your stats? Or would you rather keep your strength up? The choice is yours, friends.

You then build them individually, stats, random abilities and move set etc. THEN, you put the full twelve into a Roulette Wheel and spin alternating until you have a NEW team of six, mixing yours and your opponents builds!

I have a crazy idea that could be amazing. Format: 4 starters Rules: you turn around and see 3 of them and your opponent then makes your pokemon by choosing to take the ability from 1, typing from 1, and moves from on and slap them onto the body and stats of the 4th starter behind you. It be done blindly or not but imagine the randomness and the potential dogwater or broken pokemon you can make.

Note for editor. Using the same sound like during the team preview can give people “sound fatigue” even just having a couple variations to rotate through would help with that. Otherwise its a great video. Patterzz youre pretty cool too i guess

Episode idea: We choose random starters, but from a new region. (Read explanation below) 1: Select one of the 3 starters. 2: Find a pokemon with a regional variant whose original form matches at least 1 typing with your selection. 3: Add or change one typing (or both) to match how the pokemon from step 2 changed between regions. 4: Gain up to 2 new moves of the new typing(s) (optionally matching the base power of moves the original form can learn from leveling). 5: Choose from your available abilities, or one the step 2 pokemon gains access to in its new regional form.

Video idea - you both load your starters at the same time (so you have 6 mons), then both roll 2 six-sided die. One number gives you the Pokemon (1-3 is you, then 4-6 is your opponent), the other gives you the ability. You will both know the 6 possible options, but not each other's rolls. If you roll a double, you pick any of the 6 mons with any of the 6 abilities. 😊

Video idea, multiverse battle. You and your opponent have free choice to make your randomized team. After the battle you both switch teams using the same items and moves. Then a third battle (best out of 3) happens, you guys have free choice to choose which ever pokemon from each team. What if Patterz had the Dialga instead of (blank) So you could either pick a very bad Pokémon so when you switch your opponent gets the bad Pokémon and you could win the 2nd battle. Or you could pick godly Pokémon, but that gives your opponent a strong Pokémon for the second round and a free choice for the third battle where you both could choose that godly Pokémon. Also normal abilities, unless you wanna do randomized for some more fun.

Id love to see a Pick Or Pass game, get the first one revealed, they can choose pick Or Pass, if pick they add it to the team, if Pass they move to the next mon but can not go backwards, If you Pass on a decent pokemon in the hope of a broken you may get stuck with a kricketot or something bad, the mind games possible

Expansion on this idea: You have to guess whether it'll land on heads (keep) or tails (give). If you guess correctly on keep, you can buff it. If you guess correctly on give, you can debuff it. And vice versa

Idea for video: The pokemon are completely random. So roll for random typing (two rolls, if role matches its mono type) Roll your 4 moves (maybe use chat GPT?) and roll your ability. The bright side is you get to choose your starters.

i really do like seeing the ability draft portion in addition to the normal pick process, i don't think you were the first to do it but i find it fun. Honestly the whole draft process for both pokemon and abilities are the most fun parts of the video for me (this is not a knock on the battles, i am the type of person who is addicted to game randomizers, i love the gamba(gambling))

I think the quick claw would have gone crazy on that Lunala, according to Bulbapedia it would have been a 44% chance of either one activating. Not sure how it interacts with moves that take 2 turns either, could potentially have maybe activated it on the second turn of meteor beam? Either way, nearly a 50% chance of every move your Lunala uses being priority is crazy

Video Idea: You take turns drafting 6 sets of Pokemon moves and abilities. Once you choose a move or ability it locks your opponent and yourself from picking it in future rounds. After you have crafted 6 sets you then go through 6 rounds of randomized starters and you pick one in each round and have to assign it to one of the 6 sets you drafted. AND THEN YOU FIGHT!
