Thank you for this. The homeless become invisible in our society I can’t begin to imagine how they feel. It’s the same in London. When I go I get someone something. A drink, a sandwich etc. I don’t give money. It’s a controversial subject giving money because they may use it for substances or alcohol but then I’ve heard it said we’re using our privilege to decide what their need is. It’s truly a tricky one. Whatever we give helps for sure. Sometimes just sitting and talking to them gives them such a sense of worth. I saw a young guy in London propped up against a bin he looked so unwell. I stopped and spoke to him and he said he slept during the day in crowded places because he felt unsafe to sleep at night. Truly heartbreaking. What has society come to. It’s heartbreaking to think these people for whatever reason have ended up homeless.

The fountain was damaged some year's ago when the continental market used to have the food stalls. One of the food vendors dumped a load of old cooking oil down the fountain grids. The council did clear what they could. Think the damage was beyond fixing or the cost wasn't worth it. You're doing a thankless job mate 👍 scouse street angel ❤

@user-gb4el1yy8e they had already gone back home before the damage was discovered. After that no continental food market's were allowed to use the square or any other open air market's. They should have been made to pay for the damage! But, you know how lpool council are a bunch of idiot's!!

From the local newspaper...However the centre of Williamson Square itself is largely empty, but for masses of pigeons. Its famed £1.1m metal grid fountain remains turned off - which was said to suffer from flooding after being installed, with previous claims temporary food outlets added to the issue by pouring boiling fat down its grid. More recently the council says it hasn't worked for a number of years.

Hey kev. Might be worth knowing they have a really cheap shop in old swan called Fruitque it was actually known as one of Liverpools hidden gems. Ritchie is the owner he sells socks 10 pairs for £2 and other useful stuff a homeless person would appreciate. You could make care bags with socks, hats etc. Get the 10, 9 or 8 bus to the swan get off the tesco stop. Everyone knows the shop you'll see the goods he puts outside ( weather permitting) hopefully it might be of some use to you. 😊

It's seems to get more and more difficult as you start to encounter the range of underlying issues. Do you know the Seal Street Sisters, (sister's of charity) I think they have a community group that distribute food and drink to the homeless. Their office is on Seel Street . You have such generous subscribers it just shows how many people want to come forward. There is only so much any one person can do. If I am able to get any response from groups I will be meeting I'll get back to you. All the best.

The fake beggars make a fortune, it's sods law, there was this girl who used to watch whoever gave me some change when I was busking and she would then approach them and get them to draw cash out from the cash machine. It drove me mad, she would do this well over ten times so that's at least a hundred and I would struggle to make £20. The thing is I knew for a fact that she wasn't homeless but her boyfriend used to stand within sight so I couldn't say anything. They are leeches.
