A Cold Winter Day at the Coast - Ocean Waves and Eagles

Join me on this relaxing winter hike to the ocean where I get to see eagles and several fishing boats. The fishing season is about to start, which is noticeable with all the fishing vessels traveling in and out of the fjord.
Snow is on the ground and the temperature is below freezing. I head to a spot I’ve never been before, just outside the perimeter of the local airport here in Svolvær. I was lucky to catch one of Widerø’s propellers coming in for landing just as I arrived at my chosen camp spot. I make myself a cup of hot chocolate and an orange to enjoy while listening to the sounds of the ocean. The waves are of decent size and makes a continuous humming or roaring sound as they hit the shoreline. It feels both relaxing and refreshing to spend a day at the coast, especially when the weather is this good.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Is that a old film roll box you have powder in? Look alot like the ones i used to open when developing pictures when i was 15 🔥Great timing with the plane, sound and acting there mate 👏🏻would really like to see how you build up the timeline with all the sfx, but that may spoil some of the magic 👏🏻Strange, but i have never been a huge fan of hot chocolate, but solbærtoddy and coffee... damn, shut up and take my money. And the boat turning...how the ?? did you do that? remote control with your phone? That focus change and you sitting at the exact same spot? Haha.... Nice 🤣👏🏻I can't thank you enough Kristian, i really appreciate this videos of yours. pure magic in so many ways. So nice to see your attention to details and still manage to tell such a great visual story. Blows my mind every time. Cheers 👏🏻

Yes, spot on! A few years back I only shot on film cameras and I've kept some of those canisters. Great for storing stuff like instant coffee (or solbærtoddy if you like 😄). Thank you! I'll see if I can make some sort of tutorial on my blog when I get the new website up and running. I like to keep it simple, so it's not too complicated, I've found that it's more about doing the right kind of transition between certain scenarios. It also helps to have failed a few times and knowing what I should pay attention to when I shoot, because most of the work is done there (for example letting the recording last longer than what I need for just the clip and pacing steps and actions and so on). Haha, I noticed the boat just after I arrived there. It was further down the fjord and it was picking up lobster traps. I noticed there was a buoy just in front of me, so I set up the camera with the buoy in frame in case it came by to pick it up, which it did. 😊Well, thank you for all the support and nice comments! It's a joy to read them. I really can't thank you enough! 🙏🏻

@@KristianPletten I have not shoot film i ages, but yes. I know i did use to store matches and things to make fire when i was a small adventurer in my younger days and of course a zippo lighter right next to it 🤣Yeah, i think the key to it all is to pay attention and use just a little bit more time to plan out some of the shots. I can learn alot from that. I think i want to explore more of the cinematic parts of this world of video. So we have to see what next year brings 🔥Well, i know all about how great it is to have people respond to my own videos, and i make sure to let the creator know how much i value great videos. And you my friend, makes amazing videos. With some time i think you will be one of the few who set the bar in Norwegian outdoor videos. Keep up the great work... 🔥

Haha, funny. It reminds of my younger days when I made fires (in places where I shouldn't) with a magnifying glass. 😂 As long as next year doesn't bring any more pandemics I think we are all good. 😄 Well, it's greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Just realized when watching this, it's been long since I see the sea. I used to sit and watched sunset on the horizon while sitting on cliff rock, like you did. Watching this bring those peaceful relaxing moment back. Good video as always Kristian, started to think I should go to see the sea more and not always the mountain. Btw, the shots with boat coming in the middle while you sitting is beautifully composed.

Thank you! 🙏🏻 Yes, there's something special about being close to the sea. Not sure if it's the sounds or the views. Perhaps it's both. Would love to see how the sea looks from your end, so if you're able to record it I would be first in line to watch it. I enjoy doing a bit of both, and I just got to appreciate living so close to both the sea and the mountains. My next video might include more mountains!

The timing when a propeller airplane is good! I was able to confirm the eagle, too! An orange is beautiful for winter scenery with a few colors vividly! In the place where the fishing boat is good for 😆👍

Thank you Madoka! And thanks for confirming the eagle. 😄 Yes, when I edited the shot with the orange I was surprised of the saturation and the contrast in colors! I can let you in on a small secret, and that is that it's also why I chose a yellow and orange jacket. It's such a nice contrast from an otherwise pale blue backdrop as it often is here in Lofoten.
