I go watch watch the surfers here in Tynemouth near Newcastle every day and there's hundreds of surfers any given day, the waves are pretty big so they have to brave them, but it's a huge surfing community here, I love watching them from the pier and cliffs, sometimes there's up to ten waves coming in at once, the beaches are white sand blue flag and it's so beautiful...🌻😎

Really nice little video. Brought back good memories of mellow longboarding sessions down there.

Those waves were beautiful and I agree you did really well! Popups look right on! I'm a long boarder too and love that glide! Good to see you again! I haven't been getting notices when you post so thought something happened. Glad all is well!

I think that wave you were analysing was a bit of a combination of the stuff you mentioned but mainly that to enter it that straight you had to be a little earlier. I think it was the wave steepening that did you. Pop up was looking good though, probably just paddle earlier from deeper, paddle hard at the end whilst arching a bit more and really engaging your back, and yer little more angle. And that should let you get in an extra couple of paddles, qnd make fore a more stable pop up. Best advice I've had is don't aim to paddle fast enough to just catch the wave, aim to be fast enough to get in early with speed.

This was a very pleasant video to watch, with nice music. You used good wave judgement and positioning on takeoff for the best part of those little micro waves. It's amazing how much fun bare minimum longboarding can be with a good board and peaceful clean conditions.

Can you rent wetsuits down there as I only have a 3mm and that will not be warm enough for Feb!! Xx

Boscombe has sorted surf shop and Branksome has a rental too, but by the pier.. I don’t actually think there is! 😕

Those pop ups were good! I wish the winter waves were that good where I live; I was about to drive 3 hours this morning to the Delaware Coast (East coast of the US) for a good forecast of waves; ended up mostly being flat 😭 But luckily there are surf/beach cams to check before you leave your house. Does England consistently have good waves?
@KathrynChalk2 жыл бұрын
Oh noo!! That’s not ideal! We have our cams too and often check them. The north coast is better than here in the south but also depends on the forecast! 😊

Heya! Ah gosh it’s hard to explain in writing though my main thing has been to slow it down. I practised a lotttt and have been in shorter boards with my pop up. I think it must be with my thighs here... there are probably better videos teaching it online! Or I’ll keep watching to figure it out xx
