I canceled my Kobo order after I saw this video. I needed an eReader I could read my WebToons and my Google Play Books. The fact you can install all the reading apps from Kindle, Kobo, Nook etc is a huge plus!! Thank you for your review.

I didn't even know this existed! I already have a kindle paperwhite, and won't be purchasing another e-reader until mine breaks. The only reason this wouldn't work for me, is the fact that if it has other apps on there, I might be more tempted to do something other than read. I don't really have the self-control to just download the reading apps, even though I love the idea to be able to use Kindle, Google Books, & Nook app. I do really like the look of the home screen, and the fact that you can write on it. Who knows, maybe I'll get something like this in the future. Very helpful and overall great review :) x

Something to keep in mind - if you don't really need the colors, this may not be the best choice. Because the color layer makes the screen darker, which results in having to use the frontlight a lot more - which reduces the battery runtime quite a lot. Black-and-white screen devices by comparison run often a lot longer (like the Onyx Boox Note Air 3). But unfortunately Onyx currently has no b/w note taking device in the 7" screen size range, which is the right size for me to have it always on me.

Thank you for mentioning the difference in resolution when using the display setting with full colors. Maybe this is something I’ve missed when looking at the specs but I hadn’t heard or seen this before. A good and well thought out review this. 👌

Thanks for this! I don't want to buy a Kindle and the Kobo Clara was lacking something a kindle had. I use the kindle app on my phone and was looking for an eink tablet for my eyes. Think this is the one! Just wished they have more color options for the cases.

Oooo what a helpful video! I’m a grad student who does A TON of reading every week. I have an IPad Pro (which I use for annotating and writing) and a Kindle Paperwhite (because my eyes are suffering from all the reading 😅). This sounds almost like the best of both worlds! Would you recommend this for someone with my specific use case?

I agree. I'm hoping Amazon is working on a color e-ink tablet. I'll even take a color Kindle Paperwhite. However, I like the size of the Kindle Paperwhite, IF Amazon does roll out a color e-ink tablet, I hope it's not bigger. And, I would really like them to put effort into making the system more seemless and faster. I know this will increase the price tag but I'm willing to pay it. I'm sure many others would be to pay as well.

Great video! I was considering the new Kobo color, but after viewing your video, I'd consider the Boox. I own a Boox Note Air 2 that I love. Although I have read on it, my Boox is used almost exclusively as a note taker. Question: is there a way to share notes between devices, similar to what Apple does? That would be a killer benefit for those of us in the Boox ecosystem already. Again, thanks for the good review.

Serious dilemma; i been thinking of purchasing this product but i have 2 concerns. No.1 is to small for taking notes, and is to big to grab it as a kindle with one hand and read it in my couch; I been seeing a lot of reviews and everybody put it on the table or in a stand… I mean is that the only way that you can used it comfortably? I personally want it to read on the go and take notes on the books that I’m reading, and yes make notes on color is a big deal for me.

This has definitely inspired me to make a follow up video on this! I can try to answer these questions - what kind of notes are you taking? It’s definitely fine for quick notes, might be a little small for something with more writing just based on how you’d want to structure a page that is quite small. And it is a little heavier than its counterparts but not so much that you can’t hold it on the couch 😊

@@papernroses that you so much; I will wait for that video before I purchase it… I’m been thinking maybe! I can resolve one of the “problems” by holding the tab with a pop socket lol. I love the size of the kindle paperwhite (not the aesthetic) but comparing it to the book tab mini I don’t see a big difference in sizes; so I may be able to do it with a pop socket, I don’t know if the case will allow me to do this or if I need to buy another case. Talking about the notes, I do make notes on the same page like a little review from the page or if something catches my interest or attention. But also I take note like a full review from the book; for this kind of note in particular (full review) I like to use the iPad because I feel in big enough and comfortable to write, especially because I can split the screen on my iPad, I really not sure if I can do the same in this one. Something about this tab (boox tab mini C) tells me that I only can use it for reading and small/quick notes, but not for studying/taking class note. (Maybe that will be something for a bigger boox tab or an iPad). 1 more curiosity; can you tell if I can flip pages like a regular book? Or that is a feature that only others boox has… Thank you for your time, I will be waiting for this second review ❤️ xo

I have a kobo but unfortunately there are books that I want to read that aren’t available in the kobo store. I know there are ways of buying ebooks in other stores and transferring to the kobo but I want something easier than that. I was considering replacing my kobo (7 years old, with a few charging issues at this point) with a kindle paperwhite but I have to admit that this one here is intriguing and the price reasonable. Kindle needs to up their game.

I bought a Big me coloured e-reader as it was less expensive than the boox tab mini-c but unfortunately the colour from the big me e-reader is disappointing. The comics and webtoon novels appear whitish and more like a bright faded colour. I tried adjusting the e-ink settings but nothing changed. I’m regretting buying the big me and thinking of buying the boox tab mini c or should just go with the kindle paperwhite..

DON'T BUY FROM BOOX After 2 months of having my Mini Tab C the screen breaks. After talking to customer service they claimed there was some external force that caused it and it wouldn't be covered under warranty. This was in their case in a bookbag with other sensitive electronic none of which had an issue like this. They said I can pay another $270 to fix it. I think I'll just take the loss of $400 before it ends up being a loss of $670.

I’ve never had any electronic device break for as long as they have been available. Phones, tablets, laptops etc. and I’ve had them all. Sorry for your troubles. I never buy the insurance either. A waste of money.
