@linka1004 i mean, the first character designs for the first date weren’t planned to be another project, like how sometimes in animation pilots the clothes/designs change. Think of mixed messages as a pilot and red flags as the first episode if that makes sense

i think its very much intended to be a fun side prequel of it :) like an alternate universe of the characters What i think happened to the different clothes back then was maybe the artist did it as a fun shot, but for a longer project such as an animated video decided to simplify/change the clothes to fit this "red flags" music video better - likely the biggest change for this specific project was the wine red dress of the woman to give her a creepier vibe (and actually - at least the guy is their oc outside of the animations themselves - they have a comic where he's one of the main characters in a fall out style universe. so they very much still have freedom like that)

Fun fact: in the last seconds of the Red Flags video, when they're standing on the table in the restaurant, the artist hid Tom and Montaigne eating dinner at one of the other tables as a little easter egg 😁

The animator originally just animated a short part of mixed messages with their OCs because they wanted to, Tom saw it and loved it so much he asked them to animate the entire thing. Since that video did so well I’m assuming that’s why he asked them to do red flags too, naturally the artist used the same characters. The guy is an OC named Buttons who’s actually a protagonist for a fallout fan webcomic they do, the girl is their friend’s character.

The animator is galoo and the character is their oc, buttons they've done a lot with this character who has a lot of lore (and alternate versions for 'this character but in different game universes). Buttons is my fave lil freak of a character and def goes beyond the tom cardy stuff (though i love seeing them work together so so much)

The No Bugs Tattoo is Galoogamelady (the artist) reference to their character (Buttons). As He started out as a Fallout OC ✨ And Later crossover to GTA OC with that no bugs Tatoo as character design. Looks like that became the official Character design they are using for Tom cardy Videos. Galoogamelady was really a great inspiration when it came to character designs. I followed them long before their stuff became a hit Music video and I recognized the style immediately. ❤

As someone who drinks A LOT of coffee + has an extremely short attentionspan, I will sometimes end up with 3-4 mugs/glasses in my room at a time due to this particular order of events: 1. Pour myself a cup of coffee and bring it ro my room. 2. Finish coffee, push it to the back of my desk (slightly hidden by my computer monitor), and continue with whatever I was working on. 3. Leave room for lunch, and after eating realize I'd actually want some coffee. 4. Forget I already have a used mug IN MY ROOM and grab another one, which I eventually bring back to my room to finish up. 5. Continue working until I eventually take another break. 6. Repeat minus the lunch. At least I only go for my own mugs, but it really feels shameful having to put 3 mugs in the dishwasher the next morning when I remember their existence.

Great reaction video, and it's real nerd cred that you remembered Muttley, a somewhat obscure Hanna-Barbera cartoon character from the 1970's, but not Burt Reynolds, one of the most famous sex symbols of the same decade (he's the "Smokey and the Bandit" guy too). In addition to the "Sonic the Hedgehog" pose, there was the "Peter Griffin" right afterward, and the chewing scene seems to have been inspired by Cigarettes the Cat (from "Weekend Pussy Hunt") in Weird Al Yankovic's "Close But No Cigar" video, animated by John Kricfalusi, the creator of "Ren and Stimpy".

So the funniest thing by far about "Red Flags" to me personally is the fact that a somewhat similar incident involving that movie happened to my brother once. Kinda. Back in college, he was dating this girl who insisted, INSISTED that he watch the Human Centipede with her. It was this huge ongoing thing, she wanted to watch it but was scared to watch it by herself, so she basically dragged him kicking and screaming into watching it with her, despite him repeatedly trying to warn her about it. This went on for WEEKS with her begging him to watch it with her and him desperately fighting it. They broke up not long after. Not because of that, shockingly, but I refuse to believe that incident didn't play at least some part in the breakup.
