Everything he says is trying to look on the bright side of the memory and, though we don't get to see their past, I think that part of his personality is why she married him. Also, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for Encanto AND Moana. He's amazing.

Pepa and Felix are easily my favorite part of the song. There is such a clear contrast in the personalities, but their love for eachother, and the way their personalities compliment each other is also clearly on display. While Pepa is panicking and on the verge of freaking out, Felix remains calm and cheerful throughout, and you can see him keeping her from tipping over the edge on several occasions. I also love that, while all she sees is the whole "married in a hurricane" part, Felix is just thrilled to be married to her and sees the whole thing as a fun story rather than a terrible tragedy.

Fun fact: Dolores is the quieter one in the song and Camilo is one of the loudest, is not confirmed but I've heard It's cause when people lie they tend to speak loudly so other people believe them, Camilo's verse is the one that holds the falsest things about Bruno while Dolores' is the more sympathetic towards him.

@@happiness1464 I don't think the song is implying that Camilo is a liar, cuz then that would also imply Pepa and Felix were lying, they were just saying what they thought was the truth. Camilo's perspective is built off what he remembers of Bruno as a small kid (which is probs why he says 7ft tall cuz he probably looked big to lil Camilo). And after hearing other people's stories his perspective probably grew into Bruno being this big bad evil man.

Personally, I think that “Time for dinner!” transition where everyone comes in and starts singing their individual verses is what made this song get so popular so fast. I think that her happiness in this song was genuine. Bruno always saw things people thought of as undesirable, so Isabela’s vision was probably about her not being perfect, or becoming wild, which funnily enough was an undesirable vision for everyone EXCEPT Isabela.

@FFKonoko2 жыл бұрын
Except she also misinterpreted it. Her power did indeed grow. And isabellas issue is that she is EXPECTED to be miss perfect. So she has to only do perfect things. She knows how to do flowers, so she only does flowers and doesn't try anything else because it won't be perfect. She is constrained, trapped. Which gives bits like her reaction to the "he wants 5 kids", when talking about a man that she doesn't even want to marry...

The most awesome thing is, not only did they made the characters dance very accurately as done in Colombia, but each one of the characters "sings" in a different rythm from Colombia. They thus respond to the main theme of the song "in their own way". This is thus a Madrigal, a polyphonic song from the renaissance featuring two to eight, usually six, voices. :) They really nailed it with this one.

I noticed that each character shares thoughts about Bruno through their own lens. Camillo, the shapeshifter, describes Bruno's physical proportions and features and the rats down his back, while emphasizing Bruno's spooky side. Dolores, who can hear impossibly well and struggles with the secrets she overhears, describes the sounds she associates with Bruno and the burden of Bruno's gift of Prophecy and hints that he's still around. Pepa (who struggles with her emotions and how they influence the weather) and Felix (who, as his name indicates, tries to be cheerful and sooth her) in the beginning describe Bruno's effects on them and the sort of butterfly effect that sends them spiralling into emotional turmoil and stormy weather. The "poor, provincial" townfolk bring up their own warnings and little concerns like dying goldfish, growing guts, losing hair as grand drama. Flower-growing Isabella's self-centered focus and obsession with perfection and growth means that she's the only one who had a positive prophecy from Bruno, and yet she still isn't happy, and her lines are contrasted with her sister Luisa, whose super strength is seemingly fading (probably due to her own inability to rest and relax and her fears of worthlessness and needing to be more for the town and family). Meanwhile, Abuela is bringing Mariano to the house for the engagement dinner and trying to make sure everything goes according to plan, leaving powerless Mirabel to first become more determined to find out more about Bruno and his prophecy about her and then have the horrible realization that it might be confirming her own worst fears about destroying her family, the magical casita where they live, and their magical gifts. That’s an excellent analysis of the song! IMO, I’ve always thought that the reason Isabela isn’t happy with her prophecy is that she interpreted it as her living the life of her family’s dreams- perfect Isabela being the perfect next head of the household and leading a new generation of Madrigals, which she never really wanted. The choice of comparing her powers to a fruit-bearing plant specifically could easily be seen as a metaphor for children, especially since Isabela really only grew flowers and vines up until that point, so she could have assumed that’s what it meant, and been upset because she didn’t necessarily want that. That was my interpretation, at least.

Camilo's part constantly gets stuck in my head and now he's one of my favorites. Him and Mirabel are tied and he only had 9 minutes of screen time this song is a curse
@rhapsody982 жыл бұрын
I like that the family's last name is Madrigal, and this song is a type of madrigal, where everyone has their own part that different, and it all comes together for a cohesive whole. Technically I think true madrigals are acapella, though.

Yes, and Mirabel, seemingly without a gift, is the conductor. The one who keeps it all on time and in harmony.

I've watched "We don't talk about Bruno" probably like 100 times by now between individual personal views or watching reactions or whatever, and it just now hit me that when tío Felix goes "THUNDER!" the thunder you hear in the background is due to Pepa getting absolutely furious that he keeps interrupting, so Felix is like "oh shit" and immediately apologizes to get her back in a good mood. And it's not like it comes out of nowhere either, you can see her steadily getting angrier and angrier lol First time Felix interrupts she just kinda side-eyes him but keeps on going. Second time she gives him a slap on the shoulder and the pursed lips. Then the third time she's just had enough and literally storms off. Amazing storytelling

The is the watermark of Lin Manuel Miranda! Giving each character meaning & depth while the lyrics of the song push the story forward. Also his classic style of layering several songs on top of each other at a pinnacle point is heard here. He does this in Hamilton & In The Heights as well. All 3 excellent soundtracks! Storyteller extraordinaire!!!!
@MuricaTurkey2 жыл бұрын
Not only are the lyrics and beats clever and satisfying, BUT even the STYLE of this song is a direct reference/reflection of the story. The style of the song is a Madrigal...just like the name of the family, and the overlapping styles, narratives, and beats represent how a family is a bunch of different people who are still connected, and all an important part of the whole, despite being so different. And that it is inevitably going to be chaos, but it can be a chaos that makes something beautiful. It's just PERFECT.

I'm so happy you got to find this and seeing your joy as you go through this? Super nice. If you did the whole movie in chunks as a react it would be lovely - if you just want to focus on enjoying the movie that would be wonderful too! I think this was a wonderful react an I'm so glad you got to go into it knowing nothing so you could be blown away even harder. Also yes seriously all the animation is just so gorgeous and Pepa (the lady in the hurricane) is just so *chef's kiss*

I just noticed- when Isabela said “Hey sis, I want not a sound out of you” the beat in the background is lighter and higher just like her voice and then when Mirabel sings a moment afterward it smoothly transitions into a deeper beat just like her voice- 👁👄👁

The behind the scenes footage for this is absolutely incredible! The choreographers and dancers did such a fantastic job; it was all done in one take. Once in skin tight clothing so the animators could see the movements and another time with skirts and flowy clothing so they could get the material movement right. It's insane to see it done in real life and then see it animated! This entire movie is next level animation and music wise!

Lin Manuel Miranda is a musical genius as far as I'm concerned. Funny, I had no idea he was involved in this, but I loved the music so much that, of course, I had to look it up. When I found out he wrote all the music, I thought I should've known immediately he had a hand in it. I love everything he does. His songs are always so mesmerizing.

I like how Dolores says "I associate him with the sound of falling sand" because his room has sand falling all the time, and it would be almost impossible to go out of his room without getting sand on yourself, and since Dolores has super hearing she would be able to hear the sand falling

That part where Camilo drops here into that hole and she has to walk through the corridor to get outside is amazing. As shes walking by each character, that certain characters voice amplifies above the others, as if we are mirabel and we are in the corridor Its amazing!

I just found your channel and I'm LOVING your reactions (Pentatonix are insane right?! 😂). I would definitely suggest you check out "Surface Pressure" sung by Jessica Darrow, and "Coloumbia Mi Encanto" sung by Carlos Vives (both from are Encanto). Jessica Darrow's song is low key a bop! And also showcases some really cool voice acting in how the singer is able to express changes in emotion during the song (and she has an incredible range too!). And Carlos Vives' song is just SO fun you won't be able to sit still. We gotta see some dance moves and shimmying from ya! 😂🙌❤ New subbie here for sure! Keep up the awesome and genuine reactions my man.

I love how Dolores sings is related to her power. She has ultra powerful hearing so most of her singing is at a whisper level, much quieter in contrast to the others. Plus I’m addicted to her part, she nailed it. Awesome video too!😍😍

There's a reason it's stuck in everyone's head and so many are obsessed with it. The animation in the full movie is just gorgeous. And the music - I mean it's Lin-Manuel Miranda, so... Far as I'm concerned, LMM is on the same level as the likes of Mozart and Beethoven. I'd stake my music degree on that.

I see a lot if not everyone recommending “Surface Pressure” next with is a definite must but I don’t see a lot of “Waiting on a Miracle” or “What Else Can I Do?” which are incredible as well and pull at your soul in different ways! All the songs are incredible! Why not just do a compilation reaction to ALL THE SONGS!!!

Some of my favorite things that shows in this song is the way Felix dances right at 1:00 is the same way Antonio danced at the party. During the wedding scene, the priest, has no hair. which he then reveals AFTER the wedding scene And when they are telling Mirabell about the wedding, even though she's clearly a bit taken aback, her shoulders are still moving with the music! During the end where they all circle Mirabell and sing, Isabella's lyrics change, and Luisa is there, even though she had no part in the song! ok ok im done now but AHHH this movie is my hyperfixation rn

rhenzy, wow. the fact he is NOT a singer and this is his first time singing is incredible. he has such a smooth yet raspy voice somehow and I love it. if theres ever a sequal to encanto, I think rhenzy definitely needs his own song, or at least a verse in a song thats longer than the one he has. This is easily the best Disney animation in ages. There's a wonderful depth in this film Disney flicks don't usually have. It deals with generational trauma & dysfunctional family dynamics so well. Bruno is essentially the scapegoat of the family. And yes, the madrigal at the end,with the overlapping singing & late clunking is fire.
