So are the two front uprights steel or aluminum. I watched a video on the mikolo smith machine where they advertised as steel uprights but it is actually a very thin aluminum and a guy bent the uprights after two weeks of use and now can’t raise or lower his pulleys.

I can't comment on the Mikolo except to say that's a risk whenever you use a gauge of steel other than 11 gauge. If you're going to be lifting even remotely heavy, I would recommend going with something that has a higher gauge steel than the 14 gauge steel on the Mikolo and that's used here on the RitFit M1 Smith Machine. That being said, factory defects do happen because there's always the chance that you get the one that was made on a Friday just before quitting time so again, I say, when in doubt, order 11 gauge steel.
