Thank you for the tutorial! I’m actually going from Luminair to this. I think it’ll be a slightly more efficient to not have to deal with a router anymore. James as an old dj of 45 yrs and not very up on computers you've made an old man very happy. I totally got all you said without getting lost too much. And will defo be getting in touch about purchasing this unit... Just one question. How many light fixtures will this basic unit run. I've 8 adj and 4 chauvet and 4 marq lights in my show.. would this cope. Cheers simon

It can run 256 channels so you will run out of fixtures before the unit chokes!

Great video! A couple things I was unsure about: 1) I have a few fixtures that have a UV and Amber channel. It doesn't look like the app chases directly control these channels, am I missing something (other than doing a hard override in the fixture/fader section? 2) I am confused by the second button right next to the color selector (it has a filled dot and empty dot) do you know what those do?

If you set fan at 50%, set limitations, and then go to the graph it's easier to point heads rather than going into overrides.

Excellent detailed vid, much appreciated. Despite that I have a problem . When I add each preset the value on the left is always zero, where yours seem to default to 129 automatically. I saved the profile, then went back in, altered each one to the same as yours, but was unable to save those settings. Any clues? In case it's my tablet, I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6. Thanks. Thank you for your excellent video James, it was the most helpful of all the videos I watched to get started with mydmx Go. Much appreciated! Like you say, once the basics are mastered then it's pretty intuitive & straight forwards. I have found that the Light Rider tips & tricks videos have also been helpful to master some finer points of mydmx Go functionality & styling. I'm disappointed I don't seem to be able to control show modes in my equinox fusion 200 spots via the app. except by initiating deliberate dmx fail function to go to a specific pre-chosen show mode & then switching signal back on to go back to dmxgo app - any advice - am I missing something?

Will it be possible to change the static colors (lamps with a color gobo) with the rhythm in the future? I have read that these can only be changed permanently with the outer color wheel in the app. I have two moving heads and it would be nice if they constantly change with each other's color to the beat.

Set all your difi fixtures to the same channel, then go to your DMX address and set them to the corresponding address that the app tells you to. This all depends on what order your fixtures are in and how many DMX channels your fixture uses. I have the DMXGO interface feeding a DIFI hub, which then wirelessly communicates to my DIFI uplights.

It also show me LI when the app is running, is it telling me that connection are OK? If I running an other app with the dongle would it show me the same on the led indicator?

So with Dmx leads do you just have them all daisy chained so one coming from the Dmx Go device into a parcan then another Dmx lead out of that into a moving head and so on?

Yes. The signal is "in" and "out" of each fixture no matter the fixture type. The fixture is then given a DMX address that tells it where it is on the virtual spreadsheet, so you can have parcan, spotlight, parcan, spotlight and address them as channel 1,3,2,4 and have them appear in numerical order on your controller. The physical signal doesn't care about the order of the lights. If you wire it left to right and back to center, it won't change how it appears on your controller. Crap I need to pay attention to this video, have fun!

So I had multiple gigs now where I have had presets and backups ready to go the day before and everything is fine. But then like after a while, I select another preset and my Wash lights stop working. The moving head fixtures are on but my Wash lights all turned off in 99% of my presets. The only Fox I’ve found is turning the unit on and off but i can’t do that mid gigs lol Do you have any clue why?

Unfortunately you cannot sync with Rekordbox, you can, however, sync with software that features Ableton Link.

Heyo, I'm wondering can I do a macro preset ? Like a detailed lightshow with each light blinking or moving in a pre-defined way. Like "2Bar pattern. Pars blink on beat 1 3 4 & 1 4 &. Moving heads will blink on each beat and in the first bar they will rotate from left to right and 2nd bar they will move right to left" etc... Or are the presets only for a fixed setting or auto setting ?

With this lighting control you aren't able to create macros/sequences and the like. This is more for simple live control, not automated sequences. For something like you want to do it would be worth looking at SoundSwitch or MyDMX 3.0 for example. I just picked up the Mydmx go but having some issues. My color faders on the fixtures page just go crazy...the values are randomly and quickly just sliding up and down on their own. Is this normal. I can manually slide a blue fader for example without the red and green just doing their own thing. Am I missing something?

i use wireless transmitter & receivers to connect my lights over long distances....will these conflict with the wifi connection emitted from the MyDMX GO?

As with any wireless protocol, there is always a chance of interfered connections and every environment is different. We'd suspect ADJ will have taken steps to account for the use of wireless transmitters in lighting and think it should be alright, we'd recommend testing it out of course.

We have two of thee units and both of them see 2-3 MyDMXGo interfaces when only one is powered on. Can you explain this. Also we constantly get disconnected from it when it eventually connects. But it never stays connected.

They should work fine, check you have them on the correct channel mode, that they are in slave mode and addressed correctly :)

I think I have a deffective unit. my lights do not let me control them. Sometimes one side works and all of a sudden one side of lights storps working and the other side starts up. I tried connecting just one par and nothing at all happens.

I’m just curious...is it a necessity for your DMX cable routing, duplicates the addresses assigned to each fixture, i,e, from the MyDMXGo interface out to fixture # 1, from #1 out to 2 etc. I’m of the impression that all that matters is ensuring all the fixtures have an assigned address and the actual physical cable routing is not an issue...am I correct?

If I am understanding your question - do you need to cable each light? The dmx signal needs to leave the MyDMX GO box and get to the fixtures. Unless you have wireless capability on each fixture or you add a wireless transmitter to the mydmx go and receivers to each fixture, then yes to need to run a dmx cable to each fixture. The addresses is so that the software can "speak" to each fixture. Hope that helps.
