GM Irina Krush is improving her clickbait game - this is a good video title!

@southron_d13492 ай бұрын
I have a confession of love, too. I love that there is no endless exhortation to subscribe, no tired phrases such as "with no further ado" (followed by a lot more ado). A short introduction at most before the lesson proper. Irina gets to the point and always treats her audience with respect.

I remember Sam Shankland commenting, I think during a Banter Blitz game, that the King's Indian defies logic. This crazy line letting the knight be captured on d7 seems to prove his point. Petrosian did have a nice win against Gligoric's KID in the 1959 Candidates. With respect to the little joke in the video title, I hope Irina knows that she is loved.

Great title, there's a lot to love about these positions. Rxf5 in the second game seemed so natural to me as a King's Indian player, that light squared bishop is always such a monster. I don't think I've seen it used exactly that way before, but Rxf5 is certainly the first move that came to my mind, before Bx even. I don't know what it is but it seems obvious to me that the bishop is better than a rook there? Probably structural, the bishop is doing more than the f8 rook because of the structure.

I really enjoyed watching you and Vishi during the candidates tournament and I was really happy to unexpectedly stumble upon your channel a few months later. I really appreciate the analysis and how you look at standard time control games, instead of the blitz and rapid games that everyone plays now. Thanks!

Nice to see you back :) I was excited to watch the video... The choice of title for the video was definitely "Interesting" :) In the first position presented, the knight sacrifice, it is just a possible path for the game to continue. You must remember that white has g3 in that position... Also, when one side sacrifices a piece, for a hold on the position, there is the potential for white to sacrifice a piece back... The computer may find "romantic" ways to continue a game... Sacrificing the knight, to make both of white's knights appear to be "corralled" on the queen side looks good, but I believe that white can circle around that idea...

Congratulations on this beautiful confession of love. Love is indeed a potent force, capable of inspiring seemingly irrational decisions of sacrifice to create space and superior positioning for the final winning strike. Is life merely a complex chess game where love dictates our moves, or do we consciously orchestrate our lives like masterful GM?

Did anyone see the Pragg game where, against the Saemisch f3 and Ne2, he played Nfd2 (!!), c5 and b5?? Mishra was white and it was played in Biel this year. Apparently it’s the Bobotsov-Korchnoi-Petrosian variation, so Irina maybe you’ld like it? Mishra got mauled on the queenside… 🤣🙏

I don't need catchy titles, as I watch every one of your videos, but you are right, it didn't fool me for a second. Petrosian was indeed a fine player. I think my first chess book was "Bobby Fischer: My 60 Memorable Games," and three of those were against Petrosian, who was clearly respected by Fischer. The first of the three is in the King's Indian (as white), with the other two being Caro-Kann. That was where I first heard of the great Armenian champion.

In the second position presented, it is interesting how much control the c5 knight has... The light square control combination between the b1 ---> h7 diagonal and c5 knight is amazing :) No wonder Rxf5 was considered... I have looked at the position for quite a awhile... Considering black took a pawn on f5 invites Ncxe4... I like Ncxe4 :) Ncxe4 leads to interesting lines that trade down well to nullify black's hold on the position.

What computer engine are you using, stockfish or Mikhail Tal fish?
@GeometricStalemate2 ай бұрын
I think the computer doesn't mind sacrificing the knight on d7 because it believes Black's position is already quite bad. The engines nowadays really hate Black in these positions, give +1.5 advantage easily (though it's not so simple in practice for White...).

Lol Irina, perfect click bait. I couldn't resist, but I've been a fan for a decade already... ❤ I find it strange though that you'd go on to say that you don't have a love life. Surely, a hard working intelligent woman can be intimidating, but surely you've met plenty of people (no matter the gender) you feel really close to. Anyway, I hope you are happy no matter what choices you make. This summer I am going through a transformation where I finally understand "evil". Being kind at heart, I've always dealt with people rather selfish and dishonest, without being able to comprehend why they would behave in a way to try and exploit me. Now that I accept the world for what it is, life is going to be easier. A good example was trying to wrap my head around why would people vote for Donald Trump, he is a criminal. I lost my best over an argument about that very topic... I never noticed how much our moral values didn't align. All this to say, there are various stages of development in all areas of life. Some people are even afraid of intimacy, but the body, and mind can heal and grow. Best wishes.

I guess you are in an "in-between mode" in your love life, because a cute, smart and GM woman like you is naturally sought after; it would go against the natural law of life not to find a shoe that fits your foot; one sigh and there should be a crowd of men around you 🥰.
