Why is it that fiscal conservatism only applies to social services spending for regular people, but gets thrown out the window when it comes to tax cuts for millionaires and multinational corporations?😢

@subcitizen2012 Жыл бұрын
Understand that going against that goes against their voters, their donors, as well as 50 years of their economic ethos. Cutting taxes to the bone is how they rewarded with electoral victories in that time period becsdue it would "stimulate the economy" and "return higher revenues." For them to admit that that's false ends their careers - or begins thier careers as liberal politicians. It's a bit like magic tricks. It's magic, so long as it works on somebody. And that magic continues to work on their voters. Sadly, that side of the business isn't even whet matters ti then anymore. They are more concerned with lynching blacks and gays these days, and the pandemic didn't help with their base levels of scientific literacy. The fiscal conservatives of the past several decades made a deal with the devil courting these evangelicals for votes. It's hard to say if that Pandora box will ever close again.

i was born in 51. At age 12 (1963), I decided I would never marry because it seemed like a raw deal for women since men did not want to do "womens' work" ie washing dishes, doing laundry, cooking dinner etc even though women were now working outside of the home. Surveys in the past indicate that single women are the happiest, married men the 2nd happiest, married women the 3rd happiest, and unmarried men the unhappiest. I'm very happy with my cat. It’s not about the economy going into a downturn; it’s about our unwillingness to provide support to families, to take on income stagnation (except on the left), because of the right wing concern that someone undeserving somewhere is getting something they ought not.

Which is only a rhetorical device they use as an excuse to cover for the fact that they view everyone as undeserving, and /or that it completely goes against their principles of helping anyone that can't already help themselves (billionaire business folk). Corporate food industry has hijacked our health. lobbyists are more powerful to enact laws than voters... NRA, food, real estate industry, energy, etc. How about Brene Brown proven training for how to negotiate to all elected officials? How about criteria such as passing gov law and economics tests to anyone who runs for office. We have idiots on the hill. Counterintuitive training is a must so we understand how good governments can work in the lobg run. How about learning from other countries like Finland??? We suck!!

An excellent and respectful conversation. Great to get a nuanced discussion like that about the Republican party and its factions and future. I hope someone on the right can step up and bring the economy (which will probably be in recession during the election) and foreign policy together to say that Ukraine showed that autocratic regimes like Russia, China, and Iran can start crazy wars of aggression and that given the US wants to be out of the business of invading other nations we have stopped spending on the ammunition etc that is actually needed by us and our allies if we are going to defend against invasion by other nations. But allies can pay for their shells and drones if we can become the best and highest volume producer of these armaments. We can build more jobs with good job security that help us secure the nation and that we sell at the best price to our allies. Why is the world reliant on buying drones from China. We should be making the best and most effective drones here and not for eye watering prices that just lines the pockets of the beltway bandits. Therefore it is possible to rebuild a better self-reliant security for all Americans while also strengthening our economy over the long term and limiting out technological reliance on China
