Flex mode is way better on my Pixel Fold because the screen is wider compared to Z Fold 4 or Z Fold 5. Flex Mode is great especially for KZbin because you can type on the bottom half and watch better when eating lunch at work. The inner screen is just as good as other Foldable. The Cameras are noticably better than the Samsung Z Fold phones. I owned the Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, & Z Fold 4 & now Pixel Fold. And the Pixel Fold is the best Phone I've ever owned.

You can have five icons across when phone is closed. Go to your wallpaper settings and you can chose the icon grid to 5x5

I never thought I'd watch a phone review video. The new one is pretty neat and i like it, but i dont know that i like it enough to spend 1800 on it. No way its actually worth that for a casual smart phone user. This was a great review video btw. Very detailed and cool that you are descriptive for companies that might see this and want to fill the wants you have in a mobile device.

Yea it's a VERY hard recommendation to normal users, and even for power users/enthusiasts/whatever you wanna call them, it's still a hard sell. There are some really good ideas here though that I can only hope that Google can refine and I was actually fortunate enough to show this review to a few Google Enterprise reps, so hopefully my feedback can be useful to them as well as consumers! Yea it's way more marketable to talk about the inner display lol. That said, everyone I have seen with a foldable (that isn't a Z Flip) tends to use the inner display whenever it's convenient rather than as a primary display. Your mileage may vary, of course!

Nice video. I can't wait until launchers work properly with it. I love the Pixel launcher but it's not really customizable. Once Google irons out the software limitations it will be close to perfect.

Yea I really enjoy the phone and I think a lot of the issues will be ironed out with time. Even with that, $1800 is still a steep ask but I'm very happy overall

twitter will go full screen in portrait mode. when you open the Samsung you open in portrait mode vice versa on the pixel. So its not Samsung figuring things out. it's just the layout constraints the app devs decided upon. App devs should support all screen sizes from the small ones on the cover of the flip to TVs which is generally not hard to do when you start from scratch

Agreed, but that presents a larger problem that fortunately for Samsung is not owned by them. Also rotating the screen to landscape on a Z Fold 4 and presumably the 5 still spans the width of the screen and One UI does actually allow for full screen spanning or custom aspect ratios to accommodate this because as you mentioned, app developers would have to all update their apps to fit multiple resolutions, and it's easier for a company who doesn't own the platform to make their own custom solution than to expect hundreds of thousands of devs to update their stuff. As a side note, lots of software issues I've had with this device have been ironed out, and I still enjoy this device quite a bit as my daily, but I just tend to avoid using the apps that don't span full screen unless I'm multitasking in split screen. If I wanted the portrait orientation I'd just pick my Z Fold 4 back up, personally

Turn on aspect ratio under advanced settings. Yes it is experimental but I remember having the fold 3 and full screen was garbage.

@@VincentVeak Sorry I got a bit ahead of myself. Thank you. I recall how happy I was when I could consistently remote connect and monitor machines on the Fold 2, were there any other fun devices you tried to use to that extent?

@@ludovician you can RDP into plenty of devices with most phones these days and it works fine, each with their own pros and cons. I used to use the Note series before the Folds for their pen support, and I'd still say the Z Fold4 is still probably the gold standard, but I had fun opening RDP or VNC on my Surface Duo and Pixel Fold. The Pixel Fold in particular has a great aspect ratio when unfolded, but the lack of style support can be annoying to some but it's not a deal breaker for me personally

multi-tasking works on the pixel fold with nova launcher. Using the latest nova 8 beta if that makes a difference.

I should've stated that multitasking still works if you swipe up and view all apps, but it's an additional step. One user noted that button navigation also keeps the dock open at all times, which is neat. I would love to give the beta a go if it means the tray will stay up when I swipe up!

You actually can multitask on other launchers, i have been multitasking on Niagara launcher for a while now.

Does it work with the dock specifically? I know you can multitask when opening all apps and selecting splitscreen mode, and I have also heard reports that with 3 button nav it works, but I cannot get it working with gesture controls and I've heard mixed reports still on Reddit. Like once I week I swap back to Nova hoping it'll work for me lol

I'm thinking it's software tweaks, I am also running on 14 beta, and I think the Niagara launcher got an update for it, because I did reach out to a developer for Niagara about the same situation and the person did respond back saying they were working on the same thing.

Yea the trade in values for the phone post-launch have not been stellar. Same kind of goes for every phone, but with the Z Fold5 being so similar to the 4, it's easier to make an educated decision on whether you'd like that device than this first gen Pixel Fold

I can't definitely say no, but after using it for things like video calls and such for 30-45m, it does get warm. I've never had it power off or anything or give an overheat message, but it can get warm after longer and intense tasks. Doesn't get hot during regular usage though for me personally

Apps not opening up full screen is annoying. The only other annoying thing is the photos app just slaps your photos in their you can't make your own photo albums like in Samsung and organize to find your photos easier. Other than that the other flaws are coming down to Preferences. This is a $1499 phone since no s pen, no app Optimization. But the Pixel Fold makes up with way better Photos and the Form Factor. And that makes the Pixel Fold a better phone.

I had to sideload the APK. It was available during the beta but now it's just unavailable for all foldables for the time being. Apparently TPCi is aware of this, but we'll see. For now it's an easy solution

I definitely agree overall! I just think for the hardware part this time around, while the Z Fold is still objectively better built, the form factor of the Pixel Fold offers something a little different that may sway some people just due to personal preference. Software though? Samsung murders this thing and it's not even up for debate lol. Google really should've priced this thing lower
