When Daniel said that Alan flew in from Canada to support him, it reminded me that Alan said in an interview why he liked Canada so much. First, he liked America for the theme parks, but airports still reminded him a bit of England. But if he were in an airport in Canada, and he stumbled and fell down, then nobody said anything rude, bc he was very clumsy. But in England if you tripped and fell, then no one helped you up; they just glared at you like you were some lunatic. Thus, he loved Canada. It’s great hearing that he was clumsy, bc I am as well and know many people who are the same.

The way Daniel Radcliffe got casted was pretty cool. It reminded me of the fiasco Harry Potter had to go through to get his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. No matter how desperately Uncle Vernon tried to separate Harry from his wizarding roots, the universe (aka Dumbledore) was adamant about Harry fulfilling his destiny. I know there's a very simple, logical explanation for why Daniel kept running into the producers (his parents had connections to them and shared similar interests, plus they probably lived in the same area), but sometimes it's just nice to believe in magic.

I love the choices Dan is now making for his career. He's taking very strange roles that distances him from the dogooder thing he's known for as Harry. He's trying to push his boundaries as an actor but he fully embraces being Harry Potter he's not ashamed or embarrassed by it the way many stars from star trek or star wars have been. He knows Harry Potter was his ticket to fame and fortune. It gives him the ability now to be a serious actor.

Yeah, I like that he embraces his Harry Potter past! A lot of Disney stars, for example, try to put so much distance between themselves and their Disney shows, which I can never understand, because they wouldn't even be famous if they hadn't gotten the show in the first place.

The films are good but what's even better is listening to the audios. There is so much more in them. The film could be a couple of hours long for one book where as you got at about 8 hours from the audio. So much more detail. I used to listen to a chapter or two every night in bed when I was a kid and just let my imagination run wild. Even had, on occasions, dreams related to what I was listening to. I actually looked forward to going to bed because this was when I was entering the Wizarding world of Harry Potter.

I enjoyed very much watching this interview. I love hearing her process and behind the scenes stories. I find it fascinating to hear more of the back story created for these characters how it molded them to be what we saw in the books and on screen. I did find comments about provoking Americans with announcing Dumbledore's sexuality a bit sad and offensive. I realize stereotypes exist everywhere including stereotypes about Brits but it's beneath this conversation I believe. I feel terribly that the author and the actors have to deal with the crazies in fandom. I feel equally bad that they are subject to fanatics. I appreciate the stories for what they are; brilliant, well written stories that I shared with my children. Lots of nostalgia associated with these books and films. I will share with my grandchildren. I also found the screen sets wonderfully realistic. I adored the soundtrack, absolutely phenomenal! I too found it shocking that Harry did not keep the wand but then again, it was characteristic of him. He never wanted power or notoriety. Harry always wanted what he didn't have which was love and family and he had those. He heals and grows and grows that family of love circle. We all knew the story had an ending but it didn't change how disheartening it was when it was finally over.
Which one will take more 😉
