Lieutenant General (retired) Khalid Kidwai is advisor to Pakistan’s National Command Authority and pioneer Director General of Pakistan’s Strategic Plans Division, which he headed for an unprecedented 15 years. He is one of the most decorated generals in Pakistan and was awarded the highest civil award Nishan-i-Imtiaz, as well as Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military). Winner of the Sword of Honor at Pakistan's Military Academy, he later saw frontline combat action in erstwhile East Pakistan and was a prisoner of war in Pakistan’s 1971 war with India. General Kidwai conceived, articulated and executed Pakistan’s nuclear policy and deterrence doctrines into a tangible and robust nuclear force structure. General Kidwai is also the architect of Pakistan’s civilian Nuclear Energy Program and National Space Program.

I think senior American analyst and South Asia watcher Stephen Cohen summed up the current situation in South Asia when he said: "The alphabet agencies-ISI, RAW, and so forth-are often the chosen instrument of state policy when there is a conventional (and now a nuclear) balance of power, and the diplomatic route seems barren." I see little likelihood of full-scale war between India and Pakistan. The best way for the two nuclear armed neighbors to proceed is sustained diplomatic engagement to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir. If the diplomatic rote remains barren, there will be continuation of covert and proxy wars in the region. www.riazhaq.com/2015/03/gen-kidawi-on-pakistans-2nd-strike.html

If he thought he was making the case for pakistan, he is grossly mistaken! he actually made open the eyes of people to the threat this country poses to the world with its distorted vision/understanding of geoplitics, its chronic obsession with India and its unrealistic(delusional) goals. Just by looking at the body language and expression of the guy sitting next to him, one can deduct that he failed in his mission, like big time!

The General is a proud Pakistani and a nationalist He doesn’t talk about how Pakistan is emboldened by its nuclear weapon in creating terror attacks in india and wirldwide India is also feels that they cannot stop terrors attacks and resigned to the fact to face and eliminate the terrorist when they come over into India Pakistani nuclear threat had actually made india to think before attacking Pakistan India also started to think like Pakistanis and reciprocated and integrated Kashmir into its fold thinking Pakistani cannot do anything other than sending few terrorist into Kashmir as Pakistan So Pakistan lost Kashmir forever with this policy In the end, Pakistan will be a security starved country worrying about its security and ignoring its economy and depend on IMF for its economic survival While india will continue to grow economically and bring every country including the Muslim country closer to its fold through business deals

What a shame for India. They cannot even beat way smaller Pakistan and occupy azad Kashmir. Now don't bring 1971. It was very far from Pakistan and Bangladesh people got independence because they willed it. If Bangladeshis were not against Pakistan, India could not have won the war

Mr. Kidwai is wrong in saying the investment in nuclear bomb @57:45 is well spent as it prevented a war after 1971 indo-Pak war The 1971 war resulted in Shimla agreement that said (1). All dispute must be resolved peacefully bilaterally (2). Kashmir’s LOC border will be respected by both sides India respected the Shimla agreements even after the atomic test of 1974. Pakistan developed a bomb in 1983 and then it started to flex its muscle and started terror attacks in India initially in Punjab and then in Kashmir So between 1971-1983 peace prevailed even with one party;India) was nuclear So it was India that respected the Shimla agreement
