Former President H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo a great leader and simple indeed. It was a pleasure for me to meet him in person 5 years ago during the UN High Level Meeting to End HIV/AIDS in New York. He is an envoy for peace. Nigeria still needs his wisdom.

A leader is always a leader and can never be suppressed. Obasanjo’s rise to power has been nothing short of miraculous from the start. A man whose destiny was set even if he didn’t want it. He has sought knowledge and wisdom into his old age and whether Nigerians like him or not, he is the most accomplished, refined and humble president in our history. I don’t think he still believes his remarkable journey given his beginnings in the military at Independence!

Everyone can relate and understand clearly when this man is talking, very old and smart, jots down questions, and still respond with clarity. Nigeria today is a disaster that only understands cows, and paying back evil for evil without wisdom.

Yes, he was, and by far the best president Nigeria ever had. Though, i agreed that we're in a big problem for now, but till date, Nigerians has never produced an eloquent, understanding and a good representative president has Obasanjo. Do not quote me wrong, Nigerians has never produced any good president that really understands them as people. But among the old clowns who had ruled this country, he is by far better than any former, present president or head of state. Maybe after him you can choose Yar'adua

I am from the west and I can see from here that Nigeria's problems are conspicuous. Nigerians seem to lack the capacity to understand what it takes to make a country/nation work. Nigeria is under a model that HAS/CAN NEVER WORK IN HISTORY. Nigeria has a problem of 'ethnicity'. There are ethnic differences that are irreconcilable because of prejudice, hate and impunity. The only way for Nigeria to work is to go back to the roots of all their ethnicities. IT MUST FIRST BE DIVIDED. If any mass unity will come at some point, let it come from nations deciding to come together on their own terms. Also, you cannot have a country that start under the leadership of an alien few.

What president Obasanjo said about Nigeria's problems, and the solutions to those problems is totally complete and deep. His speech has laid the foundation to put Nigeria together again and make it the great nation that God has created it to be. Nigeria is good for Africa and it is good for the world as a whole. There are things that God wants to do with Nigeria that will benefit the whole world. We may be looked upon just as another African country, but the destiny of Nigeria goes beyond our borders. God is raising mighty men of God from Nigeria that will benefit the whole world. This is one of the reasons Satan is trying so hard to destroy Nigeria before it can achieve its God given assignment. As a man of God, I know what I am talking about. But I cannot go into details all that God has showed me about Nigeria. I am one of the God appointed preachers from Nigeria to deliver mankind from the pit of hell for the forth coming End Time, which God has revealed to me. And my ministry is a world wide ministry. And I am not the only one God will use from Nigeria. Nigeria is a very blessed country and the mighty hands of God is upon Nigeria. God will not allow the devil to conquer Nigeria. God wants to use Nigeria for his purposes in the world. Apostle R. A.

Obasanjo was “part” of the problem ! This speech was him trying to absolve himself of his part in this nightmare. The military which elevated him to prominence destroyed this geographical expression. I completely disagree with him using the new phenomenon for diversity; a cynical PR stunt by oppressors. This is a bogus cop out. We all know what the issue is but until we can address an incestuous oligarchy that are milking the land dry while impoverishing it’s citizens during the process nothing will happen. Dissolving this marriage amicably is the only solution.

If God is in the project Nigeria as you claim, pastor, I guess He would have enjoyed to have Isaac and Ishmael live together as single nation or there would not have been need for the Canaanites and other occupants of the promised land to be evicted. Why do you pastors and other so called MOGs enjoy the subjugation enslavement and killing of your fellow Christian brothers and sisters? Does God enjoy the displacement, and blood letting of the innocent Christians happening in that your God ordained Nigeria today?!

I must congratulate most the former president and those asking the questions - young diasporans like myself who have worked all over the world with a mindset of developing Nigeria economically through manufacturing, education and other means are having some faith listening to this. There is only one reason why I am not there yet and that is Financial resources. I am currently trying to create some asset classes that can provide the funds needed to create the projects that I have in mind. Perhaps you can let us know if there is access to funding on the ground so that people with the knowledge can come create. If there is - I would be there tomorrow. We have already created the social enterprise test case here in the U.K. and if we can get the required financial backing - we will be in Nigeria ASAP to create jobs and development opportunities

Correction to the former Congress man's introduction of Obasanjo as the first democratically elected president. In 1999, Olusegun Obasanjo became the second democratically elected president of Nigeria not the first. In 1979, Shehu Shagari became the first elected executive president of Nigeria and within 3 months of being sworn in for a second four year term in 1983 was overthrown by the military.

The Yorubas don't know the gift GOD ALMIGHTY gave Nigeria and Nigerians through him, and still they despise him which really hurts me. Well the famous Biblical passage that Prophets are not recognized in their places. There is only one Rtd. Four-Star General of the Nigerian Military and a two-time President of Nigeria as a Military and as A Civilian. If the history of former leaders are summed up in 5 pages, President OBJ as we favoritely call him, will appear in 100 pages because of the much he was, has been, saw, did and continues to do. The relative peace Nigerians enjoy all point to his role towards making the maximum use of his position towards nation building through inclusivity and getting the best of brains to do their job. Most times the led do not know who they have, but in Gen. OBJ, we knew and know who we have. GOD BLESS The Wilson Center Organizers. GOD Bless The United States of America. GOD BLESS OUR President OBJ, and GOD bless and make way always for the resilient people of Nigeria.

Until the policy and terms of governance become sincerely articulated by the people, for the people and with equal rights for all without prejudice, the struggle for a better citizenship experience will not stop. It is only borne from survival instinct by the groups that feel threatened. It must take dialogue and public enlightenment as you are doing by this outing. I commend your effort to enlighten the world on this evil in Nigeria and I trust that in a short while it will produce the lasting peace that have eluded Nigerians given the high handedness of leaders on the citizens, falsehood, lack of focus and misplaced priorities that characterized governance in Nigeria from the beginning.

If I may be allowed to make a however, belated comment, the US congressman was clear, direct and concise. But I do not agree at all that Nigeria's problem us management of diversity, it is dishonesty, falsehood and deception. Buhari never had the intention to govern niheria properly as well as those who sponsored his entry into the presidency. If he was honest, he would not have contested in the elections. The result today is obvious. Same applied to the politicians, like tinubu who sponsored Buhari for his own personal ambition to be president. He too is a disastrous liar. Most of the politicians are liars with no integrity and have no place in governance. They are only there to abuse their offices and loot and steal. There is a lot more to say but I will stop so far

All what you said is true. But the devil is in the details. All that is happening is the work of Satan who wants to take down a great nation. The way forward for Nigeria is to decentralize power to the States and put laws in place to hold politicians accountable for fraud and mismanagement, like we have in the United States. This is the way forward. We cannot put power in the hands of corrupt politicians without accountability. These people cannot be trusted. As you can see, they are capable of selling their souls to the devil for money, such as the so called Tinubu did.

@@rariri1 Very true my brother, I completely and absolutely agree with you. The devil is at work here and will continue until we rid ourselves of their associates. Also those who are to decide and make possible the proposals need to be honest or we will end up where we are now. So we need people of integrity and a high level of meritocracy as a basis to start with. Almost all the politicians today are vultures and we have to get rid of them.

I am of the opinion that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo saw a lot of blunders in the constitution handed over by the military that handed over Governance to him as democratically elected President and he kept mute;while observing that the Constitution was hostile to the Middle Belt and Southern States, especially Christianity as a Religion. Content of the Constitution was to favour the Fulanis. In addition, all that he did was being Greedy for his selfish end of amazing wealth for himself by authorising Governors to contribute money for his library. I here congratulate late President Yar'adua for the little he did before his death to correct many mistakes made by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to put the Nation in good position. Very interesting comments, full of benefits of a presidential hindsight. Should the current President not be more inclusive of others? Ex President says there are errors of commission and omissions,on the part of President. Buhari. We are praying he should be more magnanimous and show love or at least interest, in the welfare of non- Fulani.

Actually, it May have to be 7... autonomous regions, with a small central government. The Hausa+Fulani are in the Northwest only. The Kanem-Borno people are on the Northeast... where Boko Haram is based (no surprise, eh. Hausa-Fulani have been trying to dominate them for about 200 years). The middle belt will also have to be subdivided into two, with the Nupe and others on the west. And the Junkun/Tiv etc on the east. The children of Oduduwa (except Edo) need to figure out why they can't unite - may have to blame Oduduwa himself for that, and correct his error. He wasn't infallible. He was also an old man. And, this was millennia ago!! So, they can learn from there past and live in peace with themselves, and the rest of the union. The Niger Delta autonomous region, extending from Edo, wrapping around the southern part of the Biafra autonomous region, all the way to cross river state will be a multi ethnic subdivision, with no one dominant group. 7 autonomous subdivisions, united under a small central government that is to act as a referee btw the autonomous regions. PS: urge everyone to read "A History of Nigeria" by Toyin Falola and Matthew Heaton.

It's almost impossible for the African key leaders to hear him because they are too greedy, materialistic, selfish, self-centered and wicked. I saw these facts first hand when I was hosting a patriotic movement in Nigeria. These agents of darkness lack appreciation for national growth, security and human rights. Africa is doomed if we do not change our pathetic mindset. Let's also be aware of the fact that the so called foreign countries we are eager to seek their help are also responsible for Africa's demise. They set up and are persistently fueling the machinery that our wicked leaders are using to further destroy the continent. Wake up from your slumber Africans, or continue to plunge into oblivion!!! #AfricaBeckons @eeefyike

What's the easense of Mr. Obasanjo's advice in this issues of Nigeria failed state, he has been there too close to that very government of Nigeria since 1976 and up to date even ruled the very Nigeria as a president for up to 8 years without any progress for that contraption called Nigeria up to date that he's still therein with no electricity, no security, no good road, nothing at all to show, so I will ask again what's the easense of he's advice here? Is it just to speak wisely what the people will like to hear while he had never ever put it into practice for once even within the entire bad 8 years that he also ruled the very Nigeria and up to date still an elder state man of that very badly failed state....

For people like you who just blames and totally fault the man. 8 years of ruling is noting when compared to that of other African countries like Uganda which the presidents have totally destroyed their democracy. He made the right calls for our democracy none the less.

One of the worst traitors in Nigeria. This man ruined FELA KUTI. Ordered his mom thrown down a two storey home where she eventually died. Sent fela to prison many times. He helped to create more states that further divided Nigeria..He has been at the forefront of deceit and criminality in Nigeria. With a man like this Nigeria cannot grow. They accord him so much respect yet he returned part of a 200 million naira he took while in office. He didn't want to return it until Buhari threatened to put him in prison before he confessed to only received 200 million as his part of the embezzlement scheme. I hate to see him speaking about Nigeria situation when he is one of many who has destroyed Nigeria

Chief Obasanjo is intelligent and articulate in defending his world view - the way a Christian clergy man would defend the church’s doctrines. But, with due respect, he is sometimes not well balanced in his consideration of other perspectives. In the world today - and commonly with liberal concepts - there is so much sophistry in defense of erroneous philosophies and treacherous doctrines!

Is conflict the only way to practice religion or to promote ethnical loyalty? Where is the religious center built by the so called religious extremists? Is killing and destruction part of worshiping? Which ethic group does the insurgents in Nigeria belong? What is their agitation or grievance? There are elements of deception about the whole issue. What we are seeing is far from religious or ethnical crisis. The perpetrators of the crimes are only hiding under religion and ethnicity to wreak havoc.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo would have corrected all these anomalies and return us to the true federalism of regional government agreed by the founding fathers at independence, if Obasanjo had not rigged the election for Shagari in 1979. He still made the same mistake again as a civilian president by not returning us to the original true federalism of regional government, and yet still handed us over to the Northern Fulanis Caliphate.

Chief Obasanjo has done well in enumerating issues on diversity especially where it involves inclusive issues as it touches respect for human right perspective void of political subjugation through falsified strategic device. Chief Obasanjo did not specify the degree of ethnicity, nepotism, tribalism exercised by two thirds of nigeria population against one third with desperate optimism to destroy the aims and aspirations of one single tribe and their affiliate. Obasanjo is a man who either by commission or omission plays a sensitive part to perpetrate hate and utter negligence against one single tribe"Ibos". and their affiliate during his administration in civil and military era. Obasanjo has kept mute lips against the historic evils against the Ibos even now. History with not forgive nigeria government for their roles against the Ibos and their affiliate. Genocide was mentioned during the introduction but courageously neglected when Obasanjo talked. The world has unavoidably refused to mentioned the despotic and tribalistic evils against the entire Eastern nigeria. The world bodies must come in to separate nigeria to their natural existence before 1914 of Lugard's amalgamation. Eastern nigeria needs be separated from fulani political domination resulting to the present political enslavement against the Easterners. Nigeria is north being a country for any reason.
