Wow, Daniel. Great job in getting Larry out of his shell! Over 4 hours and only slightly half of it was "awkward silences". Lol (Just kidding, obviously) There were some great stories! Absolutely fantastic. Took me a while to get to this one because of the length, but it was totally worth it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Before we started our conversation, Larry said to me "I honestly don't understand how people can talk for 4 hours"... and then he ended up talking for 4.5 hours...

It's a real treat to hear a long form interview with Larry on his days at Lucasarts. He was behind so many great moments of those games from our childhood. Anyone responsible for that ''cone of tragedy'' animation from Sam & Max gets legendary status in my book.....and Curse of Monkey Island is a timeless classic!

This interview went on just as long as it took me to download the first few preview images from Curse on the university computers back in ‘96/‘97 and zip them as a multi-floppy archive to take back home. Monkey Island or Lucasarts must have been one of my first internet search terms, and for sure the earliest excitement I remember of discovering that they were making a sequel.

Love this guys work. The "Clint Eastwood squint" is a GREAT idea, very iconic and works perfectly. Still waiting for Larry to pick up AGS and make his own old-school adventure game! He seems to have all the various disciplines nailed, except maybe music/voice. Why bother with a sequel though. I wonder what would have happened if he had joined Doublefine after Lucas... Fascinating to hear about the first Dig, I think this is the most Ive heard about it and I hadnt seen that art before. I still think that sounds like a great idea, a vast procedural land to investigate and gradually finding secrets...(maybe the resource-management while figuring out puzzles doesnt sound too great, but that could be integrated into some open puzzles instead)
