Excellent idea for you two to do this great interview. Doug, you were an excellent listener, and well-prepared. And Rachel - well, her ELP cover videos make my heart sing. And she was a delight here. Seeing the video of her at Keith's tribute concert is truly moving. Doug, as we say in the south, "Good on ya!" PS - Doug, you have a great speaking voice, or "radio voice", as we used to say back in the day.

Yes! I've never heard anyone embody Frank's style like she did, and I didn't even know she played guitar! I had already been a huge fan of her keyboard playing.
@DabsDad2 жыл бұрын
@@sledzeppelin she sounds more like Frank than Dweezil, Mike Keneally, Vai or anyone else I've heard try and play like Frank. The FZ nuances in that solo were just uncanny. It was like Frank was being channeled through her with Dweezil watching with his jaw open. It's really an astounding video. Like you I had only heard of her prog-ELP style music and classical piano offerings. She is a monster metal/fusion guitarist. Her compositions are amazing and her voice has grown on me and is really unique and fabulous. Excited to hear her classical jazz tinged work.

Hi Doug, have watched many of your shows now down under (Australia) and really appreciate what you do! Am a big Zappa, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull fan etc. If not done so already might be worth you having a look at John McLaughlin Mahavishnu Orchestra Album "Visions of The Emerald Beyond", amazing guitarist and instrumentals in general. Also Zappa "Zoot Allures" and "You Are What You Is" might also be worthy of a look. Anyway thanks again as I really enjoy hearing your take on groups I have been into since the 70's. Kind Regards, Warren.

Doug, would you consider analyzing a classical piece from time to time for us mostly rock fans? I think it would be fascinating. You said Rachmaninoff concertos are wonderful and I'd love to know from your perspective, how and why.
@noway7422 жыл бұрын
+1. But Doug could start with the only band who really fused classical music with rock: The Enid. The bandleader is a classical pianist Robert-John Godfrey. Here is a pure classical piece, all done by him just like Rachel Flowers, with Rachmaninov written all over it. I would love Doug to give his opinion on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3zWfnSMrcShocU
