Ok I tried to unravel the whole thing a bit, but I might still be wrong :D There are 3 (4?) important characters, the red haired one (red), white haired one (white) and brown haired one (brown). There is also a guy (dude). Context of the whole thing is that red likes brown, white likes red and brown likes white. There is also dude. Dunno what he is doing but he's there. White, red and brown all work in fashion and I think white and brown create designs. White tries to impress red a lot and starts a sexual relationship with them, but it is very one sided and white gets heartbroken most of the time. White is also insecure in some way, and not happy. Brown, who is in love with white, emulates her behaviour and style, and is quite successful with that, so much so that red completely ditches white for brown and goes out with her instead. Brown is not really interested in red but I guess she accepts it (at least when she is with red, white can no longer be, right?). Of course white doesn't take that well and starts lowkey hating brown for snitching red, and in the end she calls out brown for emulating her. Brown, who is fed up with the whole thing, starts accepting herself and stops emulating white. White also gets fed up with red not really loving her and drops her relationship with red. White finally gains self respect and is happier with who she is, without chasing red. Brown, also having grown, now is just happy that white is no longer in a toxic relationship. Happy end :) If I missed something (or misunderstood anything), please tell me!

There' are 4 characters, you can see their names at the beginning of the song. Kai (the brown hair guy), Aki (red hair guy), Yae (brown hair girl) and Yuki (blond-silver hair girl). I don't understand much of their relationship portrayed here but there is a scene where you can see a photo of Aki and Yuki together with the title "Aki

@@_TSC_46 hm? The red haired one is a guy, the one who's wearing a cross necklace.
I've been rewatching and trying to piece things together and the symbolism in this video is just SO GOOD. I don't think I've entirely/accurately deciphered everything by any means but here's what I've keyed in on, also reiterating a few things other folks have noticed: - Yuki and Yae are both fashion designers who are working with Aki. Yuki is infatuated/in love with Aki -- either they're in a (non-exclusive) physical relationship, or Yuki wants to be with Aki. Yuki reflects on the text conversation with Aki (from what I can translate, they're planning to produce clothes at a factory, and Aki suggests they find a different one because Yae's design is too complicated for their current choice). This leads Yuki to think about Aki and Yae together -- we're shown an almost religious scene of Aki hovering over Yae with the necklace draped from above -- and she pricks her finger from a moment of unfocused jealousy. - Yuki sees Yae and Aki becoming closer, and her love for Aki and jealousy over the situation hits an all-time high where she can't help but to come on to Aki -- a pearl drops from Aki to Yuki. IMO, the pearls seem to represent the infatuations tying the three of them together to their unhealthy behaviors -- a pearl necklace, piece by piece (we are often shown Yae and Yuki wearing pearl necklaces in these earlier scenes). Necklaces also seem to symbolize Aki's sway over the girls and desire for control (or lack thereof, depending on the situation), as Aki is constantly shown with a cross necklace and religious/worship symbolism in their scenes. Perhaps Aki gives in to Yuki's desires in this moment to sate her and manipulate/control her to keep her working towards their own goals despite not being interested in her. I think it's likely Yuki realizes on some level that she is being used (her knocking the chess pawns over, her conflicted expression after the fact) but she still craves a relationship with Aki. I feel like this symbolism of Aki using Yuki is reinforced by Aki placing Yuki on the fabric template at 1:11, as if she's one of their pieces of fashion to be crafted to Aki's liking. - In the next main scene, we see Aki and Yae talking, and then we get a glimpse of Yae and Yuki's weekly fashions; Yae's weekend days, presumably the past two days, are a mess of clothes strewn about, and Yuki's is a jumble of string/scribble. This might be indicating that Yae loses inspiration/doesn't know how to style herself if she's not copying Yuki, which she can only do during the work week. It might also indicate that Yuki has been absent the past two days, possibly because of her fling with Aki? It's possible that Yae is confronting Aki about Yuki's presence lately -- either way, she says something Aki doesn't want to hear, and the necklaces appear -- then, Aki grabs Yae's throat, trying to exert their control over Yae this time. Yae doesn't seem to put up with it, as she exits the car. - We then learn about Yae, and how she copies Yuki's aesthetic. She may have started doing this without realizing why, but it becomes clear that the underlying reason is because she is infatuated with Yuki. At some point, Yuki tries to fix her lipstick, and Yae goes in for a kiss, receiving a slap from Yuki in reply. Yae, rejected, cries a single pearl, and then we see the pearls scattered around her on the floor -- her ties to her fruitless infatuation and reason for imitating Yuki are now severed. - We see flashes of the past here with all four characters in school uniforms (at least in the first three images), each with an arrow and a heart toward their crush, implying that at least the first three pairs have crushes from their school days. Notably in the last frame, Yuki and Yae have the same pose that we were shown previously just before Yae tries to kiss her, with Yuki fixing Yae's lipstick. I don't think these are school clothes but they are different outfits from the previous scene, implying this is something Yuki has (maybe often) done for Yae in the past. (Crushes: Yuki -> Aki, Kai -> Yae, Aki -> Yae, Yae -> Yuki) - A momentarily despondent but determined Yae rejects Aki by pulling away from their grip, then begins to remove their Yuki-imitations piece by piece, including cutting her hair. Yuki meets with Aki one last time, and the once-pressed cigarette ends falter as she drops hers from her mouth. The magic is gone -- she snips with the scissors and cuts herself loose from Aki. A free, happier Yuki emerges, and a now authentic Yae appreciates that they've both grown from their past vices. - ALSO, KAI IS THERE...??? I don't know what Kai has to do with the story or if they have any impact at all other than as a silent observer who has a crush on Yae and also went to school with them to be entirely honest lmfao

EXACTLY! i love it sm when queer characters/relationships are portrayed casually without making mention of the fact it is queer or like it being Fetishizing with stereotypes y'know? I found most wlw or mlm stuff it just falls into that unconnected fetishized kinda stuff rather than realistic characters or actual life and adult portrayal

The white haired girl likes the redhaired guy, not the other girl. And it's implied that it's about unrequited love for everyone. The white haired girl learns to let go, and the other smiles but they don't end up together. No couple ends up together here. The white haired girl even slapped the other. Yes, the brown haired girl is lesbian, but the other isn't.

KANKAN is incredible. Shes capable of pulling off upbeat and fast songs such as Tomb and Ducky while also singing a song like this, gracefully but with plenty emotion. The music video is genius and beautiful. KANKAN is so amazing. Beautiful
If you will allow me to give my interpretation: Yae (black-haired woman) and Yuki (white-haired woman) were friends in high school, seen from the picture in Yuki's notebook at 0:49. Yuki has always loved Aki (red-haired man) since high school (seen at 2:08, might have to click quickly to see that), while Aki (dark-haired man) liked Yae. But Aki and Yae start dating, this obviously arouses jealousy in Yuki. My guess is that Yae entered fashion design, so Yuki followed, presumabl to become more like Yae, more like someone Aki might love. Kai watches the whole situation from afar, exasperated or judgemental perhaps. Meanwhile, Aki has sensed that Yae doesn't love him the same way he does, so begins an affair with Yuki. And it's revealed at 1:52 that Yae has been in love with Yuki this whole time. Maybe she got with Aki just so she wouldn't have to watch Yuki date her, like another commenter has said. Yae leans in to kiss Yuki, and gets slapped. Yuki ends her relationship with Aki. Both girls change their appearance at the end to suit themselves a bit more. Now that my interpretation of the story is laid out, I think that the story is about identity and self-acceptance. Yuki thinks that Aki doesn't love her because she isn't the same as Yae, so she "becomes" Yae, but this isn't her. The affair between Yuki and Aki "isn't love". Yae may be realising her own sexuality as well, that she is attracted to Yuki, not Aki. Their physical change at the end obviously signifies their newfound self-acceptance. Who cares if you're attractive to your crush. The people attracted to you don't define you. You define you. I normally don't write comments, let alone such a long one, but this video touched me in a way. Great song and great art direction. Thank you to everyone who made this.
The greatest collab ever! I love KANKAN’s sweet voice, REISAI’s duo music and Ido did such a good job with the mv!! It’s literal perfection in every way ❤

I find it so ironic that the woman Aki cheated with Yuki with was actually just a "criminal copycat" of Yae. I feel like this is supposed to be a sick way of showing how much he loved her, so much so that he would embrace someone who looked like her.
