Oh wow....those books are so very special!! Imagine reading those to your children !!! Such a great idea of gifting dated and signed books as gifts!! Great find with the dark wooden chopping board. I think the brown pillow goes well with the green blanket. Thanks for sharing with us.

Those books are really special. I was getting really emotional alongside you there. One of my uncles owned my nanny’s house, and he’s not the nicest of people, so when she passed the rest of us never got to see any of her things or get to have any keepsakes, even though that was one of her wishes. I think it’s lovely that you’re picking things for your home with such care and wanting there to be meaning and history behind them ❤

Calke Green by Farrow and Ball is good - I wanted a rich green but found so many didn’t even look green in a darker room, this one does! I colour matched it. It’s so funny how colours can look totally different depending on the room lighting and position

Yes Ball Green F&B would look lovely or a dull gold/mustard as so many colours compliments these, particularly chocolate browns and burgundy or if you're feeling brave terracotta is gorgeousl y cosy especially in the evening but keep your lighting low level so it's soft. Can't wait to see your home renovations complete Ellen!

Love this wooden storage for spices however … my first thought was „I’d use it for jewellery cause spices will not be properly closed and can lose the taste” 😁 I’d paint the sides of your fireplace where the shelves are in…olive green and the rest some really nice warm beige ☺️ Let’s cross fingers for more autumnal days in the UK 🥰

Not sure which direction the room faces but my lounge faces north and doesn’t have the best light even though it has one wall which is all glass. After many white/ beige iterations, I painted it in F&B Downpipe….game changer! It’s due for a refresh after Christmas and it’s either going to be dark green or brown I think!

First, I love your videos and am enjoying your lifestyle with the handsome and wonderful Cameron! Anyway, just my opinion, obviously, you have several smallish rooms that are connected and I would like to lessen the transition of going room to room so I would color wash all the walls in every room the same color as the fireplace. It appears online to be a soft cream or ivory, which would work in every room bringing in warmth and light and making each room appear larger. I would keep sofas, chairs, etc the same color, adding the deep brown as main accent color through the rooms, as in your picture frames, baskets of firewood, blankets, wood bowls, etc. I love the texture of the corduroy and it goes well with the green blanket(which I think you should open up, pinch in the center and drape half over back of sofa and half over the seat part) and use a deep olive green as an accent color here and there, along with a warm ivory in a spot or two to tie in the walls. Also, a nice potted tree and a plant here and there are always a nice touch. I would hang a landscape picture of the countryside using those colors with a dark brown wood frame to bring it all together. Or maybe a nice tapestry? Mirrors are used by everyone, gets old…. Sorry you asked now, huh? Haha! You have beautiful taste and I am sure it will be gorgeous whatever you and Cameron do. It’s a process, enjoy it all. Can’t wait to see it all come together!

Great video Ellen. I think a big clock would go great on the big wall in your kitchen and over your fireplace a mirror would be a great statement piece. Finding your style is so exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing yours and Cameron’s ideas coming together. The advice I always give to friends and family is to take your time ❤

What an awesome family heirloom to pass on. I like the brown bottle your got at the antique fair too! I think textures as well as color help make a house a home. You're doing a great job with it!

Lovely Vlog Ellen! Loving all you videos currently. Just wanted to share on paint colours we've been super pleased with Lick paints and in our lounge which also doesn't get loads of light we have Greige 01 it is the perfect grey beige with a hint of green and warmth to it too. Xx

Lovely vlog! I would go for a light warm colour for lounge, as it hasn’t lots of light, so maybe a warm cream? You can use colours in your accents - cushions etc in earthy tones, as they would suit your taste I feel. Exciting and you are so patient, I’m the opposite, once I want to do something I go all steam ahead lol! Have a great week and I loved your grandmas books, how lovely ❤️

Lovely video, as always Ellen! Agree with you on the paint colour around the fireplace, it should not be dark as there is not much light so a lighter stone colour is definitely an excellent idea. For the pillows, I am not a fan of the brown corduroy appearance, would say that both the material and colour do not go well there with the throw - you could consider a mustard colour for the pillows and a smoother material so the throw can still have its moment with the pillows complementing it rather than competing with it (and also the lovely view into the garden). Wish you a great Sunday 😊

Beautiful pieces from the antique fair, esp loved you reading and talking about your grandmas love of books and being gifted them by her dad ❤. A rich Green would be gorgeous in your living room. Really like the painting for the kitchen option 1 but would the sun come in and fade it? Otherwise it also looked great by the oils also x

I would definitely put the oils in a cupboard-they oxidize in light- and then put the spice thing where the oils were and the lovely painting above it. The spice thing crowds your preferred space. If you can't open all the drawers easily without moving something in front of it (salt bowl) it's in the wrong place. Let the oils go!!! Love your channel x

My thoughts are that the painting looked best in the first place you tried it and that the cushion cover isn't quite right. Not sure if it's the corduroy or the colour but suspect it might be both. Getting a house right is just so much trial and error and in my experience if it's not a 'hell yes' then it'll bug you until you get it right.

I'd prefer the painting next to the sink, to be honest, but at the same time, it sees a lot of light there. I would still place it there, and then, if it's not too expensive, you can always change the picture when it starts to fade.
