@relativelyrefined like you, I read a lot of cozy mysteries. I read the newest, and usually, it's in this season. Some authors that have some good ones are Tonya Kappes, Debbie Macomber, Julie Mulhern, A R Winters, CeeCee James, and Joanne Fluke, just to name a few. I also like Donna VanLieri, Melody Carlson, and Richard Paul Evans they come out with seasonal books. Happy Reading 📚 😊

I LOVE Anne of Green Gables! It is a great series! I lived right on the Canadian Border of Vermont for many years. We used to go strawberry picking just over the border and day trip to the Montreal farmer's market! Such a beautiful city - Montreal!

Hey Paula! It was so good to watch your video today! You got some great goodies at the thrift store, love it when we have good luck out treasure hunting!!! I really enjoyed your book recommendations, there was one or two that I may have to get from the library. I actually have a set of the Jan Karon books, but I have actually never read them yet! You have inspired me to get them out! Would love to get together one day!! ❤

Love all your thrift finds and especially the book recommendations. I also have Susan Branch’s cookbooks, but did you know she wrote 3 books about her life? Her first book, A Fine Romance (falling in love with the EnglishCountryside) made The NY Times Best Seller List, she followed that with The Fairy Tale Girl and her last of the trilogy was Martha’s Vineyard Isle of Dreams. As a follower of all things Susan Branch, we girlfriends waited patiently for her to write and get the books published. And like her cookbooks they are handwritten and illustrated by her. I know you will love them. Her life is fascinating and I read each one cover to cover in just a couple of days because I couldn’t put them down. I’m sure your library will have them. Thanks for another fun video and it wouldn’t be complete without Hazel and Phoebe making an appearance ❤️

Hi Chris - I did not know that Susan Branch had written three books about her life. That make three more books to add to my wish list LOL! I think they are just a delight to read. The illustrations and her handwriting - the whole experience of the books makes me happy! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! xoxo Paula

Wow, Paula, this was a great video. Not only did you find some good thrift finds, but there was a book talk! I hope you do more like this, maybe with thrifted books. Acorn tv has a series based on the Agatha Raisen books. Have you seen that? It's pretty good and like you said she is funny 😊. I love reading due to Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. I will be looking for some of your suggestions. Happy reading 📚 😊

Paula you love all of the same things I love. ❤I'm a huge fan of Agatha Raisin. Ive read all the books and love Ashley Jensen in the tv series on Acorn tv. Cozy. mysteries are my faves. Also Gooseberry Patch used to be my favorite retailer. When Vicki and Joann used to own the business they used to send mail catalogs with the cutest merchandise including the cookbooks etc. I miss that. Susan Branch is a favorite as well. I met her and her husband at a book signing and she was lovely. I vote for more cozy book time with Hazel and Phoebe on your lap. I love seeing them!

Loved seeing all the eye candy!! I love the strawberry bowls. As for books, I am a big MC Beaton fan and I enjoy Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth. I just found an author from the 30s, a contemporary of Agatha Christie...John Buds. He writes cozy mysteries set in various English towns. I am tracking down more of his books and thanks to Thrift Books, I have found a few more.

Great video and wonderful finds. The dogs made me laugh. It always amazes me that our dog can sleep for hours and as soon as I want him to be quiet he has to spring into actions...what is he barking at ? I never know but he takes it quite seriously. Loved your book recommendations...I have read many of the cozy mysteries. Here is a series you might enjoy. It is called the booktown mystery series and is by the author Lorna Barrett. She always has a little twist at the end and I usually can not guess "who done it" as they say. I am excited to get my november fall box. Thanks for waiting to ship it until we get home from our trip. Cindy

I will definitely check out the booktown series - it is right up my alley!! And you could not be more right about the dogs - they are laying around the house snoozing until I sit down to film anything and then they jump into action! LOL. I am happy to hang on to your fall box until you return from your vacation. I hope you will enjoy it. We had so much fun choosing the items for the boxes!

Nice bubble glass find. My book says the were made in the 1940’s+,by anchor hocking. I read all the Nancy Drew books back in the day. Another set of mystery set from my cousins before me were the Beverly Gray books. Similar to Nancy Drew yet today no one seems to talk about Beverly Gray books. Also Cherry Ames we’re also popular in that same time frame. They were all cozy reads for young people.
@relativelyrefined

Hi Judith - I read Cherry Ames books, too! I found them at my grandmother's house when I was a young girl - they had been my mother's books when she was young. I am starting to collect vintage copies of them - three of my four kids are in nursing school so they are a fun thing to collect! I have never heard of the Beverly Gray books. I will have to ask my mom if she knows what they are. Thank you for the information on the bubble glass ... it is so pretty and I love to learn about it!

There were many books in the Beverly Gray series. And they had a similar story line as Nancy Drew. My cousin who had the series was born in 1930 so she probably read them in the 1940’s. Funny how some books survive ( N Drew) and others we hear nothing about.
