The Monolithic movement is truly innovative. I saw the white version of this watch in the metal. The audible “buzzing” is crazy. Agree, would love to see this movement in other sport type models.

Great review - I liked the "Warp Drive" and subtle Star Trek theme on the intro...I'd like to have one now!

I seen the 3 monolithic time peaces. I said to the salesman, do me the bleu. The guy is also a Longines, Breitling, Oris, T Heuer AD. Normally i wear Longines watches, so i am new to Frederique Constant. The 40 mm fits my wrist well, and i love the silicon disc buzzing to give the second hand his sliding effect. I like the Highlife and World timers of Frederique Constant. If i compare my slimline FC to something else, i think about Piaget Altiplano. Sure, the Altiplano is a lot thinner, but also a different price tag. FC i compare with Omega and IWC. More watch than Oris that is a little bit above Alpina. Cars, FC is a decent Acura, while AP is a Corvette with a mid placed engine and Patek a Lamborghini Urus.

I love the brand and they offer tremendous value when purchased at the deep discounts usually available. I wish they didn’t use the same dial, hands, and case for this watch that they have been for the last 20+ years.

Yeah a monolithic highlife would be awesome

Great video as usual. FYI I’m wearing a Seiko ‘Save The Ocean’ and I just love it!

Late to this video, Chris, though I catch most of your stuff. I've been reading up about and following this watch since it came out. Thank you for covering it! I absolutely love the tech, the envelope-pushing, and what FC is doing with their brand mission. Amazing price for this kind of state-of-the art tech! That said, I am in complete agreement that the packaging is just not for me. Something in a more modern steel sports watch design would be a home run in my book. I think they also must have some kinks to work out with the regulation, however -- one of the commenters here is not the first I've read who have complained about substantial accuracy problems. Hopefully FC will be able to dial that in.

Thank you for the feedback! FC is definitely able to rectify these issues if they are present upon purchase.

Uhoh, this new movement looks interesting! I too am not into Roman numeral dress watches, only have a couple. If FC puts some Arabic numbers on one and maybe a bracelet, I’m in line! Keep the open heart, of course. Nice review.

Very very cool! Do you reckon they could do a mechanical chronograph accurate to 1/40 of a second!? I'm wearing my Longines Chrono

At time 4:32 the "humming" of the movement is heard. I think Chris you must of magnified the sound some. Correct? I mean, the John Deere tractor sound imitation not all the elegant. Ha
@Littletreasury2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven -- the sound is super hard to record and can be heard better in person. I had to really jack the gain up to try and get any of it on the audio.

Love the monolithic sweep but these offerings look too similar to Orient. Would like to see a thickness of 10mm or less with a 37 or 38mm case diameter.

Just a crazy fast movement; spring drive is regulated at 32k hertz, this one runs at 40hz. Trying to mimic the gliding/sweeping second hand of a spring drive
@k.g.35676 ай бұрын
That's because Grand Seiko's spring drive uses a common quartz oscillator like any other quartz based watch, the difference being that their oscillator is powered by a mainspring instead of a battery. 32k hertz is the standard frequency for most quartz watches. Meanwhile FCs monolithic drive is purely mechanical, which I'd argue is a lot more impressive than spring drive.
