@@doug132639the horse can’t control its speed or the striding to make it right for the jumps, the rider does a lot of work and makes it look effortless.

and yet she doesnt know that a trot can be developed lol (or want to put the effort into it-) yall reply but dont read my other comments💀 SO she was going to buy a horse my friend had in, but didnt because of his trot. which the trot can be developed, so either she didnt know or couldnt be assed.

I have been riding all my life, enjoying jumping in a ring. Cross country jumping takes so much bravery, skill and amazing trust between the horse and rider!! I have never had that much courage!

It is fun, if you're on a horse that 1) listens to you 2) has brakes. 😂 our mare now retired at 35... had neither if those things, all you could do will cling on for dear life and hope you made it to the end.

i honestly love how she messed up a little coming off one of the other jumps. it shows that even excellent riders can make mistakes and be appreciated. plus, it shows how you can recover from mistakes if you have confidence and good equitation

@@miss_equestrian.4 excuse me? I’ve rode for over a decade, have several equine qualifications and have worked in several riding schools have YOU ever ridden a horse????? So you believe that you sit there and do nothing? Some “equestrian” you are… clearly just ridden with someone leading you for you to believe you sit there and do nothing.

Ross canter in berly horse trials was so good, when her horse refused the jump about 2 or 3 times she schooled it and got eliminated but she did the right thing by just schooling it

Despite the rider hanging on to that horse's mouth through that water, the horse carried her trough. Good horse, she is lucky to have him.

There's someone that knows what's happening . If the rider is so good she should win every time .if she doesn't win she blames the horse . So we see who really does all the work and makes the rider win ..HORSE EVERY TIME

@@doug132639 When I was a kid in the 70s and 80's I was so lucky to have some excellent instructors. If a horse failed or refused a jump it was ALWAYS the rider's fault. I always do my best to evaluate how to do better to keep out of the horses' way. He/she is the one doing the lion's share of the WORK. The rider is only there to make judgments, decide the course, and set the horse up for success. The biggest lesson get out of the mouth, off of the neck, and have good balance so that you don't get in the way of your horse. I suppose the one thing I forgot to add above is confidence. The horse must feel and know that the rider is confident (especially younger horses). Nowadays so many kids (and adults) blame the horse. It makes me insane!

Thankyou, YES!! I came to see if anyone else picked up on riding through the mouth (so to speak) and found one! They are a great combo though, I they did an amazing job, I just happened to notice the strain on his mouth but when you're in such a high stress moment (or course!!), there'll be a few moments that you might later wish you could've done a bit different so yea.. haha 😊😊

I don't think I would/could do eventing (more a ranch girl, maybe hunters) but I've never knocked it. Ethical eventing is beautiful

Xc is brilliant fun if you're on a horse that listens to you and has brakes. Our mare now retired was a point and go kinda girl.. She'd jump absolutely everything she caught her eye on... So you had to make sure you steered her away if it wasn't part of the course before she locked on.. Uf she did, you were going over it. 😂 she's only 15.2hh but easily cleared 4ft without any problems.

I am comparing seeing this to what we are doing in Dressage. These horses must have incredibly hard mouths with all the yanking. Necessary because the horse is traveling so fast and needs some assistence in squaring up to the jump? Anyway, just amazing just amazing athletics of horse and rider.....😊

It is very necessary sometimes. My thoroughbred is mainly a dressage horse but when jumping or doing poles I have to be a little more harsh with my half halts so he doesn’t run off. Horses get very excited during cross country so you have to have stronger half halts so you know they will listen

It’s honestly scary how much showjumpers and xc riders are reliant on harsh hands and bits for control, definitely not normal and definitely not necessary, but definitely normalized way too much

Because this event is for serious competitors, that want to win, not those that do it for fun. Yes there's risk of injury and death, that's part of what makes it an extreme sport as its meant to be. If you want to do xc for fun, do jump cross. Its xc course with showjumps that just fall over

この動画像を拝見しまして、日本のかつての江戸時代以前の合戦の風景はこれ以上に苛酷だったのだろうと、改めて想像しました。 織田信長の崖からの一気の攻め落としなど、まさしくそのような気合いだと思います。騎手も騎手でしょうけれど、不断の日々の午との人馬一心同体の訓練や生活が無ければ、馬だって、死ぬかもしれぬ!と、脚を止めます。

Not every horse is breed and born to do this. This horse just makes it look easy, this takes years of work for the horse and rider to be competing at this level. It’s not only hard on the horses mentally but also physically.
