I agree with alot of the comments saying to give the players time and they will come good, i also think we get too caught up in comments and not realise that 60% of the people that support celtic are more than likely not on commenting on youtube videos or live streams. I also think that goes a long way in explaining how celtic media and social accounts dont perform as well as smaller clubs My entire family supports celtic on both sides and i am probably the only one that follows celtic on social media and engages with it So take everything you see with a grain of salt.

That's some leap to blame Engels for that goal. Plenty of options for Khun, a wee introduction from the bench for Engels should be the way forward imo. Credit to Brugge & to us for earning a point whilst not at our best.🍀

That’s simply not correct at all. CCV has to take the bulk of blame but there’s a lot wrong before it gets to that and it’s what we seen throughout first half. Engels didn’t want the ball under that pressure last night - which led me to think his confidence a bit low.

Fans are entitled to be optimistic Stephen, nothing wrong with that. Atbthe end of the day its the manager and pkayers who then take responsibility for the results

Aye ,ok , apart from getting the score wrong ? I was right about how close the teams were. Given our recent history in European competitions? I would say the prognosis is positive. CCV own goal is so random .HH🍀🍀

The goal was just one of those things William. Team responded well in second half and a good point in the end. On to the next!

Sorry Brido, Engels wasn't in any part to blame for that goal last night. He was poor and is clearly out of sorts but you can't seriously level that at him.
@brydo84

I’m afraid he was and as I made pretty clear he was one player involved.CCV has to take the bulk of blame but have another look and tell me what you think Engels is doing to help us play out from there… he simply doesn’t make himself available and AJ has one pass and Kuhn is under real pressure. The goal epitomises a lot that was wrong with our decisions on the ball in the first 45. It was evident throughout and my point was around why I think Engels struggled. He will come good and it was a good point in the end.

Is Engels not playing a new position with Celtic ? I just think he has not fully settled yet, new position, moving here and playing in a different league. Don't think he had played in the CL before this season ? you need experience in that competition, a lot of our players are now playing it for the third year in a row, think about Maeda for example in his first few games in it under Ange, compared to this season, experience is priceless. I think Engels will do well, might be next season before we see the best of him.
@cfc18882000
@cfc18882000 Ай бұрын
Yeah I think he played more as a 6 in Germany. Him playing out of position for us doesn't excuse some of the basics he is struggling with but equally it is something that a lot of his critics are either overlooking or are completely unaware of.

Spot on Martin. He's a young player and with that will come some inconsistencies. A talented lad and he'll definitely improve in the months ahead under Rodgers.

Let me step in. Trusty performance was analysed after Falkirk and Dortmund. I suggested I had issues with his natural ability to smell danger and just defend. Clear praise after Atalanta and tbh since then he’s been pretty good. He will improve and hopefully partnership with CCV keeps stronger. He was awesome v Leipzig. Difference between an opinion, an assessment and knee jerkly suggesting he’s not good enough I’d suggest. Delighted he’s producing now and perhaps, like many, needed to play on stronger side with CCV.

We dug out a draw while not playing as well as we can against a good team in the CL, that is a good sign. On eight points with three games left is a great position to be in.

He's not hit the ground running in the way we all hoped Dan but clear to see there's a good player there. 3 assists and a goal at Champions League level tells you that. No doubt he's low on confidence right now though and will be interesting to see how Rodgers manages that over the next few games. A spell on the bench would seem the obvious approach

Full backs back in the day just had to win tackles and headers and don't cross the halfway line Jeezo Tell that to Gemmell Craig and McGrain amongst many others Unless your talking about the forties

Rodgers looked unusually a bit stressed in the pre-match interview which was the total opposite of his media conference only a day before. I thought that strange and that maybe he had had an argument with someone just before. He was the same after the game but that was wholly understandable after the poor performance of his players. As for Engels, after two or three games, I had referred to him being as slow as Turnbull without David's shooting prowess and was then subject to some ridicule by others even one saying I must be a Sevco fan. 😂 I have said my piece on the boy and fervently hope I am proved wrong in the longer term but surely everyone in their heart of hearts can see that both Bernardo and McCowan are better options right now. Celtic is bigger than any single player whoever he is and special pleading for one player at the expense of others more worthy of a place is unfair to them. It is not being cruel to Engels to point that out. As for the game itself I thought the press and intensity from the players just wasn't there and we suffered badly as a result. The players have to take responsibility for that and, tbh, at the end I was happy to settle for a draw which I don't honestly believe we actually deserved. We now move on and hopefully learn the lesson once again that hard pressing is the key to success against top opposition. We are still in a great position to qualify for those play-offs!
