I took three weeks off of work to circle the country going to the Copa America this past summer, planning on at least seeing 4 games. That ended up being a huge letdown. I'm really hoping 2025 will be a better year for us and I'm hoping two wins in March will make up for last summer's disappointment. I'm also in the camp that says we should go play good teams in their countries. It's too bad no one makes any money playing in S. America or Africa.

That’s the curse of CONCACAF. Unless we ever get a full North and South American nations league going which is unlikely due to their brutal qualifying schedule, there’s few and far between opportunities to rise your stock. Only to drop it. They should’ve beaten Panama in the Copa America when they had the chance

@@vaporterraadding insult to injury it was a Concacaf opponent when we completely lost our god damn mind. But we needed the humble pie, the players needed it and Gregg needed to exit stage left. I’m still concerned that some of the guys and the federation haven’t learn but having a new nonsense coach will get them together not just tactically but mentally. With roster spots not a given they have to earn it which means playing your best soccer.

Here's a couple of decent euro teams that don't play in June. Switzerland, Hungary, Scotland, Ukraine, Ireland, N. Ireland and Turkey. Its imperitive we schedule two of these teams in.

Unfortunately politics may impact anything the UMNT does. The March game against Panama could be disrupted if Trump actually goes ahead with his threat to invade and seize the Canal. Then you have the threats to Greenland and other crazy ideas. Who knows what might happen.

Some European teams will be available in June for friendlies along with all of Asia lol Conmebol will also be available for October and November

So for the friendlies, it’s possible that 2 European countries can be booked in June as a bunch of them won’t be playing WCQ yet. In September, the only teams available will be the Asian ones that have qualified for the WC, which is about 10 of them. So it should be possible to book Asian teams in September.

Exactly, it was romoured we would play England in june, but they got into a group of 5. So we'd have to make a euro trip right before gold cup (not likely). There are plenty of decent euro sides drawn into groups of 4 yhough, that have zero games in june so far. Need to schedule 2

@@wessmith3859 it’s definitely possible, Canada (my country) played the Netherlands and France just before Copa; as the US has even more of your starting 11 in Europe than Canada it’s not a big stretch for them to play in Europe, then head to North America right after. Also, England only has one game scheduled in June, so I feel like it’s an inevitability that the US will grab a friendly with them for the other game in that window.

@@wessmith3859 fair enough, it’ll come down to the details: from Tac’s int’l window overview, if our teams can grab earlier slots for games (say 2nd game of the window is latest June 8), that’ll give about about a week in between, not that different from other windows where they have a club game on the weekend then the following Thursday/Friday they have their first national game. Also, not to sound like a “rude Canadian”, but the group stage of the gold cup will not have the same level of difficulty as the Copa. What I’m trying to say is I would like to see games against 2 European teams this summer.

I don't really care about the US Soccer and the USMNT too much, but there's something you missed here regarding the friendlies. The World Cup qualifiers of UEFA has European teams only playing 6 or 8 games, leaving 2 games open for an international friendly, so there's still a chance the United States could face 2 European countries this year. Even those that were eliminated in the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals could still play a friendly against the United States in June window. Also, I'm still concerned about the Asian teams playing with the United States because countries like Iran had an ongoing political tensions with the US, especially after the US supported Israel in the ongoing Gaza War. The friendly game against Venezuela could have been cancelled because of the same reason with Iran.

When was the last time the US played Iran outside of a neutral World Cup match? I don’t see that changing right now. Sorry to say the war between Israel and Hamas has no baring on the USMNT playing any team in the Asia confederation or beyond other than North Korea and Russia.

I think we'll send a relatively good gold cup team. Minus gio and juve boys for club wc. But then also anyone who is transfering will sit out. So probably A- or B+ team. Plenty talented enough to win gold cup. Alphonso Davies will be in club world cup unless he transfers (Eustaquio as well right?). Liga mx has 3 teams in club world cup.

honestly they should play 3 away friendlies in europe, 3 away in South America and 3 at home vs top national teams in the world. this will be the only way to be ready for hopefully a great run in 2026. beating Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, and Honduras have not ever gotten us past the quater finals in the past 25 years.

Mexico was supposed to be below us in talent right? I hate the cup throwing trash tri fans but their players play football.
