I've always liked your playing, but I honestly think that since the pandemic started you've kicked it yet another level. That Bolero sounded excellent. I've honestly never been a Yamaha person, probably because I. bought one way the heck back in 1971 and really didn't love it. My son is sold on the Xenos and I guess I'm coming around - this horn sounds excellent in your hands. I'll have to run downtown and give one a buzz to see what it sounds like in mine.

Thanks Ray! I will say that many of the "standard" Xenos are not a great fit for many advanced players (which is why most of the pros who are playing them are on the OR orchestral model.) I personally really like the OR models and I think this cryo treatment really does create a different playing and sonic experience...

Love the playing as always Keith! On cryogenic treatment, I do that in several short stints by occasionally forgetting my horn in the car throughout our MN winters. Works wonders! /s :)

Is it possible you can review the Hammond 12XL on euphonium? While I’m not looking into it personally, I figure quite a few people are interested in the Hammond’s take on the 51D design. Aren’t the Hammond mouthpieces also popular for marching ensembles?

I had a cryogenic process done to a Bach 16M-LT about 30 years ago - when the process was beginning to catch on. After the process, I didn’t notice a significance other than a reduction in the overall projection.

Thanks for your comment! You mentioned that the projection was reduced; did the sound become broader/spread sideways or just the overall sound level become diminished?

Hello,do you know something about the alto trombone Bach at501? Its only for 360$ on one official spanish Shop but i dont know if its something wrong with it.

The only official Bach alto trombone is the 39, which comes in around $3000 USD; this likely sounds like an inexpensive maker using the Bach name… I would be at least suspicious at that price

@@SchmittMusicTromboneShop Then its just some chinese fake trombone...but is suspicious that they sold it in a big oficial spanish shop.I am looking for something not above of 500$ cause I need it for learn and also not sound too bad

@@kris-yp6yj It is made under the Bach name, and yup in China. I almost bought one right before the pandemic started because the orchestra I was playing in was doing Beethoven's 6th Symphony and one movement just parks up there in the stratosphere, and I'm getting old. Then of course everything shut down and I didn't need one. It went for $500 at a music store in the UK that does an online service. I talked to the guy, who's a trombone player, and he said he liked the horn alright, especially at that price.
