Very smart management. Explain "why", get their buy-in, encourage ideas to improve, and reward performance. "The beatings will continue until morale improves", management style just does not cut it.

While this may be a helpful strategy, the answer is far more simple. Pay people enough to live comfortably/time off and treat them right. It's the bare minimum that's been missing this whole time. That's all.

Not that simple. Customers want low cost goods and services.

I was hoping for a push for cycle commuting. Tha Lemond road bike is a beauty. The straight rake of the front fork spells road work. Back in the office? Why? Why would a company want to pay for the soup to nuts needed to keep a building open? The list is long. Employees have seen behind the curtain. Pay people for merit, not attendance.

I'm in Health care. I don't show up or any of the kitchen staff, we're screwed. Managers of office staff don't show up, nothing happens. Them working from home actually helps.

Wait, this guy called a meeting to talk about bicycle seats? Kinky. I thought he was going to get people back to the office by building bike-able neighborhoods, instead, we're all going to think about bicycle seats together? Again, kinky. And then, if we accomplish all our goals, I (me, the boss) am going to buy myself a new car? What??? Minnesota. Ok, now I get it, Midwestern Humor, marvelous!
