Thank Wes for this DETAILED & UNIQUE video review of Godox ML100Bi. Out of 6 videos I've watched, yours is the ONLY one that shows you open the light to check the build quality of the components inside. You're also the only KZbinr who states that outdoor, in direct sunlight you use it only 60% of its power. I like this light for supporting V mount battery. I hate it for the plastic modifier mount.
@WesPerryАй бұрын
Unfortunately it doesn’t Directly support v-mount. You need a barrel plug to d-tap adapter cable to do that, which it frustratingly doesn’t come with. But I have a bunch of v mounts with usb out anyway so it’s no big deal to Me.

Hi Wes, great video, very in depth ! For run and gun, what would you recommend between the Godox ML 100Bi and the Amaran 60x s ? I would use it mostly with a 60cm softbox. thank you in advance

I see you don't like the screen. Totally agree. We aren't all 20 and with perfect vision. The companies really need to do better. Especially as the market seems to be getting older over time .

Thank you for your review. I am researching the lights and came across your video. I am Usually spending 4-5 hours a day in conference calls from a small office. I thought to get this light and a soft box as key light. But not sure if it is going to be too much for the eyes. The light itself won’t be visible in my calls so if we remote that factor, what is your best advice for me to buy?

By the way, the border of the two available spot reflectors is magnetic, as I suspected and hoped, just like the built-in reflector of the Godox LC-30 lights. I noticed the similarity of this built-in spot reflector to the 15 and 35 degree spot reflectors available for the Godox ML-100 lights when the light was introduced. And since the narrow ring around the front of the spot reflectors looked exactly like the one on the LC-30 lights, I hoped from the beginning that these would also be magnetic and that we would be able to get a modifier set similar to the AK-R1 set with diffuser, barn door, grid and the like in the near future. For me, the two spot reflectors and the possibility of being able to use magnetic accessories in the future are a unique selling point of these lights. And the fact that I can also use the reflectors on a Godox ML-60 II light is an additional plus point, especially if you have bought a kit with both reflectors.

I still wish the Godox Litemons LA150 and LA200s could be powered by a v mount battery.

Can you turn the fan off? Are they as quiet as the ML60s?
@edgey8DАй бұрын
Would you be able to clamp the front lens in the godox adapter that allows you to use the ad300 with a bowers mount?

If I have a Godox ML60Bi, is the extra “power” noticeable or worth it?

Also curious! Are they as quiet as the ML60s?

Is it bright enough to use with a medium to a big softbox?
@WesPerry17 күн бұрын
Depends how much light you need, so hard for me to say. But 100W is a pretty decent amount of light for indoor use. A little difficult to mount a “big” soft box on this without a bowens mount, though.

I create content in my living room and right now, my main light is a Colbor CL100x Bicolor. Right now, I want to buy 1 o 2 extra lights. This Godox is my list but I want to know your opinion and recommends. Could you recommend a light in the same price range but a better quality light or you would buy?
@WesPerryАй бұрын
The biggest issue with this light is its lack of Bowens mount. The Colbor CL100x has a significant advantage here, and is still a great light. The advantage of the Godox is its tiny size, packability and ease of powering on an external supply. If you're not travelling around your lights, I would honestly stick with the Colbor setup, and maybe even wait for a sale. Neither has the highest CRI/R9 ratings, but you generally have to pay a bit more for that.

@@WesPerry what do you think about the "Liyadi G230W", the price is around $100 and the power is 230w, but for that price is hard to believe. I want to buy a 2nd light, but not totally sure if the best option is another Colbor CL100x. Sometime I travel to my wife's parents house where we create content

Looks like a ripoff of the Zhiyun G200, and I wouldn’t trust it. No idea what that company is. 😬

I had a copy of ml100bi last week, it comes with cracks on the screw holes I had those for the 2 screw holes after a day of use it added another one crack on one of the screwholes again, the plastic isnt sturdy enough and it is disappointing.
@WesPerryАй бұрын
That’s very odd and disappointing. After much use and a couple drops there are still no cracks in mine. Definitely a manufacturing issue of some kind with yours. I hope you took it back?
@ForestLopezDigitalMediaАй бұрын
@@WesPerry I have it returned for refund, now I'm repurposing my Zhiyun X100, I'm buying vmount battery and clamp. I'll buy that ml100bi again next month I'm just waiting for some sale.

You can buy the ML-GB Godox to Bowens Mount Adapter if you want to use a Bowens mount modifier.. 14USD/£14
@WesPerry2 ай бұрын
This thing would snap in half if you adapted and mounted a full sized bowens softbox on it 😂
@tugwilson2 ай бұрын
@@WesPerry I can't imagine anybody putting a large softbox on this light.. To be honest I thing they should have made it like the AS-BA-FMM adapter for the Forza 60 so the light hangs of the back and the modifier hangs off the front.
@WesPerry2 ай бұрын
@@tugwilson yeah the other mini mounts that COLBOR and Zhiyun use (slightly different from one another 🤦🏻♂️) use their own arms as well. A much safer choice.
@IdontKnowWhatToPutHere_Ай бұрын
I don't know why they don't make the mini to regular mount adapter wouldn't be the thing that you mount to the light stand. The adapter should carry the weight of the soft box on the front, and the light then floats on the adapter. Way better process there.

Light quality isn’t Quite as good, Bluetooth works much more reliably (I’ve had a lot of issues with the X100 flaking on me when trying to operate it remotely since the review), build quality is a give and take.

I personally don't love the trend of having white case on lights, as everything else (connectors, tripods, softboxes, cameras, etc.) are all black. It just breaks the mood, unless you're an streamer of some sort....
@Filokalee9992 ай бұрын
Even Bowens adapter (ML-GB) for this light is black, not white
@WesPerry2 ай бұрын
I definitely think it should be offered in black and white. I was surprised to find it’s only offered in white. They recently revised much of their litemons series to be both colors.

Was it wrong to buy a Rollei Candela?
@WesPerry2 ай бұрын
As far as I can tell Rollei is just the brand name COLBOR is operating under in Europe.
