Cats seem to find me, know matter where I go. I live far out in the country, further than people will drive to dump cats. Yet they still find me! When he said the kitten season would bring 300 extra cats, I was like "they don't spay/nueter here??" SO glad to hear they do! And doing a low cost service too, fantastic :) Spay/Neuter is THE most important thing that can be done to increase the welfare of Cats. And people not being able to afford it (as well as other vetinary care) is the biggest reason so many cats end up on the streets suffering.

Unfortunately it's under a new director and she hasn't done a very good job of taking care of the place, staff and cats. Some of the vet/med techs are not licensed or certified but are able to do whatever they want. They had an oxygen concentrator tube rip and need a replacement but were told to just 'tape it'. The new director didn't even know how many staff were working there until she was told during an interview. She spends about two days a week on the cat house property and 20min each time infront of the entrance taking whichever donations showed up for herself. She doesn't check on staff and ignores any serious problems going on. She even denied covid pay to some employees but okayed it for others.

BTW... you can get a PLAQUE made, which they will hang up at the entrance to the huge center for kitties. $100 for small, $180 for medium and $250 for large. What a sweet idea to know that even when your gone, your precious babies will go on forever living in memory by those who visit this extraordinaire place. I ordered a plaque for my babies who died, Pico and Baby. May they rest in peace forever for they are never forgotten.

What a wonderful thing these people are doing. I don’t really like most of my fellow Homo sapiens, but then people do something like this, and I can’t hate everyone. Having been homeless several times myself, I can relate to these cats on a fundamental level. Life on the streets is rough and dirty, be you human or feline.

It's amazing. In Israel every house/building, has it's own street cats. You see cats everywhere you go. I take care of about 50 cats. This is very common in Israel. my neighbor does the same. 2 years ago I adopted an injured tuxedo kitten. Now she's doing great. i called her Chertik (means little devil - russian).

Sara Van Volkenburg They aren't helping these cats by giving them kibble and canned. You can help cats better by bringing in a couple of strays and giving them a raw diet and/or allowing them to hunt.

Shelly Bane Um, no. Allowing them to hunt were expose them to parasites and being hunted themselves by even bigger animals. This is California, there are coyotes out there, and they will eat cats. Also, feeding 1000 cats a raw diet on what is likely a non-profit budget would be very difficult if not impossible.

Meghan Hirsh Typical city slicker comment. First, in the wild, there would never be so many cats to need food in the first place because lack of food, parasites and other predators would take care of that. It all balances out. Secondly, this does NOT kill off all wild cats into extinction as I'm sure you would imagine. They simply do not need us. Intestinal parasites are dealt with in the wild predator's gutt by a high content of strong stomach acids which digest them before they even become larvae. They learn to hide and cover their scent. This is why cats roll around on the ground and also bury their feces as opposed to dogs. I understand why the average city inhabitant believes this nonsense about supposedly needing kibble and penicillin but none of it is true. Most of these cats need to be put down. It's an insult to them to let them live this way. Nature's way is best.
