A few years back, I went to New Zealand. Saw some cattle there, the farmers let us feed them. But I dared not approach those hulking beasts. So from a distance, I took the hay and flung it far over the fence. That was my first yeet hay experience.

Why do you always have beef with us man???? True. The past was bad. But the politicians from all sides were responsible. Tamil, Muslim, Sinhala politicians were the ones dividing the people. Being a Sinhalese from down south, I felt discriminated in Jaffna, where Tamils are the majority. That’s all because of the politicians. I think you maybe an Indian who doesn’t know much about Sri Lanka. And do you know that the president R Premadasa made Tamil as the official language in Sri Lanka just to win the Tamil votes?? Nothing happened though. Still the killings were happening. As long as people are divided, it’s easy for politicians. They have dinner together, their children get married with each other’s children. But, in the public, they spread the hatred.

@@arjunraj823 Tamils in western province and south know some Sinhala. But majority of Sinhalese don’t know Tamil. And majority of Tamils in North also don’t know Sinhala. That also was a reason behind the violent past.

@@SuccessforLifester The popular belief is that the Shiva Linga represents the phallus, the emblem of the generative power in nature. According to followers of Hinduism, their teachers have taught that this is not only a mistake, but also a grave blunder. Such a stance, for example, can be found in the teachings of Swami Sivananda, In addition to the Hindu tradition, the Shiva Linga has been adopted by a number of metaphysical disciplines. In this case, it refers to a particular stone from an Indian river that is believed to have healing powers for the mind, body, and soul.

We need to be careful about using a different race greetings these days. Some sensitive people would be outrage and accuse you of cultural appropriation or even calling you raciat. In MasterChef Australia, for example, one Sarah Tiong from Malaysia was angry and accused the westerner radio interviewers of being racists for greeting her, Ni Hao Ma.

It would have been more WHOLESOME to let someone who is a Tamil speaking Indian person to be a part of this. Rather than get someone else. While there is no rule that a Chinese person who sees themselves more as as Indian is not allowed to showcase an Indian culture, it would make more sense to do it with the Indian person. In the name of inclusivity, sometimes we miss the obvious. This is why sometimes people go up in arms over cultural issues. Diversity does not mean we forget the roots of a particular culture. Also, going to an Indian shop to eat, you could have at least made an attempt to use your HANDS to eat or explain the significance behind them versus cutlery. If ya'll did so in the background, it would be nice to show that as well. OR, if you didn't do it out of personal preference or NOT yet comfortable or don't know how to, that too is fine. This is like going to a Chinese stall and ordering Ban Mian and using hands to eat. Nothing wrong with it, right? It just looks a little off. Again, the cultural significance and why people do what they do gets lost in translation sometimes. Yes, appropriate cultural references have long been different from the way they were originally intended to be, due do a variety of reasons. That does not mean we do not do our best to make it as "authentic" as possible. We can do better. Great effort tho. 🙏
