I’m so with you on the LinkedIn thing! I’ve been in the longest process it seems to find a new job, and it can feel so discouraging sometimes going on that website and seeing all these people get new jobs or positions and you can’t help comparing yourself sometimes. So I try to steer clear of it and just focus on my own path and reminding myself that whatever job is meant for me will come my way and to be kinder to myself in the process

About the LinkedIn thing, I'm on a placement hunting process and I'm getting stressed because it seems like everyone has found something except for me, it should definitely be an even more stressful procedure for job search! But just like you said it yourself, everyone just shows the "successful", "shiny" surface. We should focus on our own paths, and only follow people that inspire us with their work and their careers. This is the healthy process of networking, after all.

Omg !! I can totally relate with you. Someone had to talk about this toxic productivity thing. It’s good that you are productive but at the same time it must be considered that someone else is having a really tough day or week or even a month trying to get work done. I think we should normalize not being productive. I really like the way you said these positive words and then went to your work which shows that you are not telling everyone that “yeah u must be productive to get to a certain level “ and at the same time giving some good vibes for people out there to just do 1 task on your to do list if not all.♥️lots of love

Happy you related. It's a hard one because whilst I think that creating a culture where everyone is expected to be productive 24/7 even in their free time can be damaging, it's not fair to bring people down that enjoy being productive. I think that no matter how hard you work (and people should ultimately be working hard), there is great value in knowing how to take time off to reflect and re-energize. Also knowing that some days won't be as productive as others and that's absolutely fine 😊

Hi Alexia! Have you tried also talking to agencies and send your cv there? Or it doesn’t apply to your job type? This is smth very common for London job hunting. If you haven’t, it might worth a try in addition to what you are doing on your own of course. Also talking to your uni alumni and ex teachers will definitely help! P.s. besides your studies do you have Uk experience regarding jobs? If yes then I am sure you will find smth soon. If not have you considered applying for smth different but close to what you want to make sure you ll get that first? Is there a way that you can come to London for a while as a tourist let’s say. And start applying from here? Do you think this could help? (Maybe if they see that you are Uk based already..) Probably have done all these but just wanted to write them as well for everyone else that might be looking for jobs in another country. All the best again!!! :-) P.s. 2: couldn’t agree more about productivity!!!

I hate LinkedIn. I 10000% agree with you. It‘s a much worse „highlight reel“ than any other platform because you literally have all your accomplishments listed online. I also find your view about productivity interesting since I „know“ you from Nasirs vlogs and he seems like the Most productive person ever. But I also agree with you that this whole 24/7 Productivity trend puts way too much pressure on us. I wish you lots of luck for your further applications 😊

Exactly!! Haha nasir really is a productivity god but he enjoys it. I totally respect people who like grinding (and I do too sometimes) but I don’t think anyone should feel guilty for taking time off/having an “unproductive day”

Yeah I think it's important for people to do what works for them - whether that's being extremely productive or having more of a work-life balance. Both are valid and I think there's great value in sometimes taking a break and a step back to reflect

Absolutely agree with your view on LinkedIn. I feel like over the last one or two years everyone is progressing so fast that sometimes i do become overwhelmed and doubt myself. They are consuming themselves way too much. I just want everyone to relax a bit and just slow down and balance things. The human race is already tough. Let's not make it tougher.
