I can relate to how you feel about going through your father’s things. My mom passed away almost 3 years ago and I gathered a lot of her things I wanted to have cleaned and donate to a women’s dress for success charity. I kept those clothes in the trunk of my car for a very long time until just recently when I had to remove them because I bought a new car. Because the charity i wanted to donate her clothes to was closed due to COVID, I decided to donate them to Goodwill. I was mortified when I opened the trunk of my car and the person grab her clothes and tossed them in a cart like they were trash. I was devastated because that was the final step in letting her go. I cried all the way home and even as I type this comment, I want to cry but I knew it was time to part way with them. My prayers are with you as you go through the rest of your father’s belongings.

My dad passed away three years ago when I was 19 and I know exactly how you feel, it's such a strange thing to process and the going through his belongings was one of the toughest things I've had to do. It does get easier with time but I completely understand how difficult it must be for you and your family. Stay strong and positive! x

I froze the screen in your Surf and it does say liquid detergent! So your clothes may have a soapy feel but will smell great. 😂 luv all the seasonal items. I work in bereavement and people definitely don't realise how much there is to sort out when someone passes away, its really nice that your brother sorted most things out for yous so that you didn't have to make those phone calls as they are so difficult for people to make! I think you should switch your tree up. I do a different theme every year 😁 I get ideas from Pinterest and get super excited when it's time to buy and decorate. We have a Christmas Tree Shop where I live and they always have really nice, unique items. This year I am going to do a white, champagne and natural color theme. All with a little glam.

It’s so hard to go through their things. It’s their whole life you have to go through and it feels so upsetting, sometimes comforting, sad, just all of the emotions. Feel it all and if you feel like you need to cry, just let it out because the longer you hold it in, the harder it is to get through the loss. I tried to brace myself as much as I could and set intentions of “I will treat her things with respect as I go through them, I’ll keep what my heart strongly tells me to hold onto, and I’ll donate what I can part with to someone who needs it the most because that’s what she would do.” While you’re going through it, feel free to let the stories behind items be shared out loud with your mom, brother, and sister because that will help you all process and feel better together . Hi Gemma the surf detergant is for the drum to wash ur clothes and isent fabric softner, i made this mistake myself and used it as fabric softner and messed up my washing machine and couldent get rid of the bubbles/foam and kept having to put it on extra rinses evertime i used it, until i realised what i'd done and now have constant water build up in fabric softner draw!! Dont want u to ruin ur mashine like i did 🙈💕

Hi Gemma, my dad passed about a week after your dad. I can totally relate to what you are saying, im am starting to sort dad's house on Friday which was also my childhood home and I don't want to move or throw anything away, it's so hard. I lost my mum when I was young so the house has bits of her stuff too. Im sorting all of his paperwork ect too, i really didn't appreciate how much there was to do after someone passes, it's very overwhelming. Much love to you xx
