So besides getting lucky and having connections like Jane. To be honest it’s all about who you know. You have to be willing to work for free half the time as a PA to start hit up film students that need help on set email/dm people you might know in the film industry and let them know you’d like to PA for them. There is many routes to get to this point and many different types of PA work. Good luck to you all and don’t get discouraged. Jane’s story is common but not that common as a PA. She got a easy in but being a PA is not easy work and you get shit on by a lot of people above the line.

I always wanted to get into television production but chickened out when it was time to go to school for it because I let people get into my ear saying that the job is unrealistic. I’ll be graduating with my psychology degree in May 22 and I’ll be moving back to NYC, any advice for someone with out production experience to get a job in tv production ? I really want to follow my passion.

Probably should explain how i found your channel. I prayed, asked God to put me around more people who still have the heart of a child, that wonder at butterflies, that cherish kindness in the little moments. In the past I had migraines, then out of the blue, with my head in my hands, on the floor, God put a thought in my head, "Don't pray for you; pray for others." No medicine, nothing, over the next 3 weeks, they completely went away, and every time, I just prayed that others would be healed. Then I asked God why. He said, "How can you love your neighbor as you love yourself, unless in each moment, you want the same healing for others, asking me for the same healing for others, that you ask for yourself?" So, tonight, as I was washing dishes, praying for the people in China that made them, that they would have what I have, I remembered something both you and I need. So, I prayed for that for you, and by praying for you, God knew I was praying for me, too. Oh ya, how do I pray, entering his gates with thanksgiving, I say, "God, thank you for xxxx, which I do enjoy, and I really appreciate, even this broken and chipped on the side plate in my hands that reminds me of all we have been through. So, as I pray for others, that they would enjoy plates like these, because I am so thankful for them, I also want to thank you for doing this thing xxxx for others, as you do it for me." I am still praying, but you get the idea. Amen!

this is like a dream job for me, i would love to work in production someday but i guess that means having to move to la eventually :/ are you still going to be working as a pa when you start school again? also would love to see a tour of the new apartment (not sure if you’re planning on making a video for it or not) and maybe the process of how you found it/pricing etc!!! great video though, i love the day in my life format 🥺💛

thank you - it is super interesting! I don't live too far from work so it takes about 10-15 minutes. Traffic has been a lot less intense in LA since COVID lockdowns started actually!

I major in French! and a little secret: in 99% of cases, it literally does not matter what you major in - I know very few people in the entertainment industry who actually got degrees within that field, if they even went to college at all! I do not work with a single former film student lol

Sooo question... obviously the pa position is where most people start but how did you know how to do the different tasks. Do they train you on how to complete the tasks??? I feel like I wouldn't know what to do. I'm a mass media major but we haven't learned clerical things like this. lol

my mom's an actress, and LA is a suuuuuper connection-heavy city. I'm lucky she had some connections she was willing to share with me that got my foot in the door! (in other words, a little bit of nepotism unfortunately)

@@JaneDillonHorner : That may get you in, but it won't keep you in if you're not good at the job. So don't sell yourself short. We all use the necessary connections we can to get in, if possible, like a neighbor, friend, friends of friends, professors, etc... in short anybody! But to keep a job? It's up to you.

I have dreamt to work in pre production. Unfortunately im not from the US/UK or any such nation and am from a tiny 3rd world island on the other side of the world. I love TV and study as much as i can from home. It is now my 3rd consecutive year trying to make it to the other side of the world, in the hope i can make it even tho im 27... .thanks for sharing these videos.. cherish every min. When u have a hard day, look back at the overall experience and be grateful cz there are people like me who struggle to even get half an opportunity to follow our dreams ❤
