I've repaired two mowers with the same problem. Once you have the coil back in place, mark an area on the string wheel as well as on the housing, this will help you turn the to the proper tension. Turn the coil 6 full turn (each turn should match the marked area) then insert a small screwdrive to the tension while you insert the pull-cord. Great video as always. Thank you

You just haven't lived until you've had to fix an "unsprung" rewind spring. I guess I should be happy to say I've lived (but I'm not)! This video is a perfect illustration of the patience needed to fix small engine equipment. In my younger days the neighborhood kids would have learned a lot of new (bad) words and dodged a few missiles! Now it is just par for the course!

good video, a little trick from when I repaired mowers/power equipment regarding the recoil starter assembly installation is when fitting put the unit on the engine with all the fixing bolts in place "finger tight" then pull the engine over a couple of times (don't start the engine) to "centre" the recoil assembly relative to the flywheel then without disturbing it's position tighten the recoil assemblies fixings, this also ensures the starter "tang" presents to the flywheel in the best position.

Starters can be a big pain - yes I've been down that road before - a little spray lube my be a little help on this too . I've found that after I put the new rope in I give it a few drops on the spring and it really helps the function a lot . Good video .....
