The Grove of Old Trees is a notable landmark located near Occidental, just west of Sebastopol, California. It's a small but significant stand of ancient redwood trees nestled within Sonoma County's diverse landscape. This grove is renowned for its serene atmosphere and the majestic presence of its towering trees, some of which are estimated to be over a thousand years old.
The Grove of Old Trees holds historical and ecological importance. It serves as a reminder of the vast old-growth forests that once covered much of the region before extensive logging took place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These remaining redwoods are cherished for their resilience and their role in preserving a glimpse of the past.
This grove also provides a habitat for various wildlife species and contributes to the local ecosystem's health by capturing carbon dioxide and stabilizing soil. Additionally, it offers visitors an opportunity for quiet contemplation and connection with nature, with peaceful walking trails winding through the ancient trees.
Preservation efforts have been crucial in safeguarding the Grove of Old Trees from development and ensuring its protection for future generations to enjoy. It stands as a testament to the importance of conservation and the enduring beauty of California's coastal redwood forests.

Very pretty in that area ... & not so far from Armstrong woods too. Daughter worked at a zipline place out there and really enjoyed it. Never get tired of seeing the trees we have up here! Thanks for visiting!
