Thanks to www.naturespondcare.com for the Aerator: www.naturespon.... I spend a day at my off grid doing general building at the off grid sawmill, reforesting my woods, cutting dead fall for firewood, and stocking my trout pond with trophy rainbow trout.

Revive with Koenders Solar Aeration Systems
No Wind? Try Koenders Solar Aeration System DC 200!
Koenders Solar Aeration System is an energy-efficient, cost-effective option for introducing oxygen into ponds where electric or windmill aeration is not a possibility. A solar aerator is ideal for remote locations where there are no electrical hook-ups available, or for the environmentally-conscious consumer who is looking for ways to minimize their ecological footprint and their monthly energy bills. This custom-designed unit offers the highest price/performance and reliability in its category.
The DC 200 system is designed to be most effective in water depths of up to 12 feet.
Bottom-Up Aeration
By pumping a consistent flow of oxygen through the water body Koenders Solar Aeration Systems promote healthy aerobic activity for fish and pond life. The bottom-up oxygenation (aeration) process also provides a source of oxygen that fuels Nature’s Pond Conditioner’s enzymes and bacteria which helps it consume excess nutrients, fish droppings, fertilizers, leaves and other organic matter that builds up as pond sludge which increases unwanted nutrient levels in the water body.
Reduces algae blooms and their frequency and deters weed growth
Eliminates pond odors by venting off harmful gases
Reduces fish kill by dissolving increased levels of oxygen in the water when the fish need it most
Enhances the benefits of Nature’s Pond Conditioner

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

My cousin used large cookies from some old growth trees he cleared when he built his home and made a meandering path to the lake from the buildings on the property, He treated them against rot and it was beautiful! The pine needles would shed from trees and blow about and it was just the perfect landscaped woodland look.

Starting a new tree on a branch method called air layering, did the same sort of thing using a 5 gallon bucket cut and patched with duct tape... on a boxwood branch... it is a new boxwood plant... some use plastic bags, but I left the bucket on for a year or four... a very nice root ball.

That first tree you took down was a beautiful tree. Tall, straight, thick. Perfectly dropped. It only missed that second tree you wanted it to take down with it by inches. I know the trout need the water oxygenated. My question is with the air stones at the bottom of the deepest part of the pond does that warm the water? Warm water does not contain as much oxygen but is there enough cold water from the springs to keep the temperature down?

I'd love to see you get some fruit-bearing trees out there, too. Maybe some heritage varieties of apple, pears, cherries? Or hazelnuts? Or... I don't know, I just feel like putting in some fruit bearing trees around the cabin area makes for a nice transition between house and forest? And provide food for critters, too.

Lots of good things going on at the sawmill building, and the fish pond. On the apple tree, those rooting balls will work best close to the base of the old tree. If that apple tree was from a nursery, it was grafted onto a hardy rootstock. Your rooted clone will not have a hardy rootstock, and may not do well in your area. It the tree is a volunteer, your clones should do well. FULL STOP!
