Hey Patrick, just wanna say thanks again for the video and to let you know that I will be interviewing for a TAC position on Tuesday 6/28. After revisiting this video once again kind of ramps up the anxiety a little bit. Currently preparing for the interview with everything in the arsenal just to be prepared.

Thank you, Sam! I was a little disorganized on the interview, but we were just going free form and flowing. I have to go back and review that to see what topics we said we would hit, but just didn’t happen. I know the phases of the CCIE journey wasn’t touched (new, restarting after 1st attempt, banana peels (tricky things in exam), knowing when you are ready to pass, etc). I definitely need to get that information out there because knowing the phases is important.

Hi Patrick! I just signed an offer to work for Cisco TAC. There are so many unknowns but I really appreciated your video; especially knowing how the team works together and supports one another, and how the managers are helpful and supportive really allays some fears I had. It is such an exciting opportunity and I want to do my best.

Thank you for this Patrick! As a CCNA, studying for CCNP in Collab, I am moving to the Triangle area in the next 2 months. It would be my dream job to work at TAC! How does TAC work with overseas staff, and who gets the tickets? The reason I ask is it seems most of my Collab TAC cases are Costa Rica and India engineers. It seems rare nowadays to get USA. Thanks again for all you do, and for the lab buildouts. I have been following right along with my own home lab.

bro you guys at TAC are WIZARDS! I work in NOC and we escalate so many tickets to TAC and you guys just chant your magick spells and the router starts to speak, how's it doing, where it hurts, what it wants to do, etc.

well put together sir....'your knowledge about something increases when you share it with others'. Question for you...why Cisco technical documentation is so difficult to understand? I always look for an answer in support forums because the language used in forums is straight forward.

I'd never be able to handle that kind of pressure. I bet even some CCIE's wouldn't make it in the TAC world. It probably pays good though ;) I'm content working with a small outside partner at the moment.

Man, I keep applying for a TAC job in security but it looks like they only want either new folks or CCIE's.. Hard to tell.. maybe there's a lot of competition.

You talked about escalating to the BU saying that it does not happen frequently. As a customer i see most of my cases escalated to the BU and rarely solved in TAC. I always wondered how common that is. Now I am not trying to downplay TAC, i presume its because we have a very good team ourselfs to check before even going to cisco TAC and therefor when we do open a case, it mostly stems from a defect we obviously cant solve ourselves. To my question: How many cases (percentage wise) would you say are the result of misconfiguration/errror in cucm, cms, cube or a bad design of the network and are therefor solvable for you guys as opposed to how many are that result of defects which obviously leave you to coordinate with BU and account to push fixes into updates without being able to "fix" the issue?

Awesome video really gives me a great idea if I ever make it in. I'm hopefully going to be able to get into TAC or the TCE position as they call it. I trying to get in as a soon to be graduate as they were recruiting through a school board. I'm really hoping I get interviewed for it. Sounds challenging. I'm used to the pressure from working at a MSP. Stuff is literally on fire every single day. Servers down, routers down etc. Hopefully I make it in and get to learn.

Thank you so much for this😭 just joined cisco tac. It's kinda difficult being a fresher but I'm up for the challenge. Lots of technologies to look for especially in mgcp, h323, dial peers. Please someone help me if anyone can recommend a good training video series especially hands on practice.
