I came across your channel sometime two days ago and subscribed immediately after watching your first video. You come across very passive and extremely positive, motivating others who want to share the same success as you. In just two short days I’ve watch 90% of your videos. I live in NYC and working on succeeding just like you and many others. If you ever need any help, I would like to work with you just for the experience. No compensation needed.

I've been a freelancer for 15 years and I really relate to a lot of your time management strategies, and I definitely took away some useful advice from this. Success/failure aside, these tips are also useful for preventing burnout as a freelancer, which has been my big challenge. Great content.

Hey Scott. You are such an inspiration and proof that if you put your mind into doing something, after hard work and commitment, success will come. It is so hard to find the motivation to pursue your dreams, especially when you are alone and trying to start from ground up. It takes a lot of self-discipline and will. God bless you!
@scottmckenna6 жыл бұрын
Yup. I think that’s what is hard for people. You’re alone in the pursuit of the build at the start. Without accountability from others, a lot of people fail because they don’t work hard (whether they are trying or not). It’s why I think so many people are not cut out for owning the business, but should be a #2 in a company with someone who is.

Love your video, Scott and I LOVE behind the scenes stuff. Since I'm not full time in my business I plan weekly filling in all spots on my calendar with things I can do to move my business forward.

Thanks for the advice. I work from 5:30 - 2:00 pm. I have a lot of free time. I have been spending a lot of my free time learning how to edit better in fcpx. But I do admit I seem to be spending a lot of time in that learning mode, these days. I enjoy it and I asked for it, so I am definitely happier, these days. I stepped down from playing guitar at church for a couple months, as I am expecting a grandson in the next 4 weeks. That’s going to be one well documented baby...;-) thanks for being you, we all appreciate you!!!

YES! “Always work to be done.” Thanks Scott! Some good tips and motivation for being productive, even as simple as scheduling and filling your calendar for the next day, and sticking to it (or at least trying it and seeing how you need to adjust depending on what’s realistic, rather than just making it up as you go along). Going to do better at this, thanks again for sharing 👊🏻

Busy people always can get things done. I find when I fill my schedule, I can be much more productive. When nothing is scheduled, it is easy to procrastinate.
@joshzaring6 жыл бұрын
Very good tips. I feel that sticking to schedules is really the only way. Being self employed, especially with a home office, you have to make sure friends and family understand how serious your schedule is too. I struggle with getting people to realize that I am in fact working, which is hard. I’m really surprised at how much reverb that room still has with all the acoustical foam. You may want to put some 3” acoustical foam on the ceiling above the filming area.
@scottmckenna6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's a great point. It's important to realize people need to know your learning as well. I only have foam covering 2 of the 4 walls, and not the ceiling. It was designed to dampen it a bit without completely changing the whole look of the room. I wasn't able to cover 2 walls which is why when I'm facing the window (with no treatment) you're going to hear it even more. It's not perfect. Still working on some possible options.
@joshzaring6 жыл бұрын
@@scottmckenna I know what you mean. The first studio I built back in my recording studio days was wall to wall treated acoustically and it was dark and UGLY haha,.... But it sounded great. More recently I decided to build small "gobos", acoustical foam fixed to a stiff backing, and they either attach to light stands or mic stands. I put them behind the lighting and camera and it helps a lot. Getting ready to build yet another studio and I think I'll keep it nice and clean looking like that with moveable treatment.

Love your channel Scott. I’ve been trying to literally watch every video you’ve make. You are extremely helpful. Quick question. Why do render you wedding videos out at 1080 instead of 3840x2160 when sending to MediaZilla? Thanks
@scottmckenna6 жыл бұрын
Mediazilla doesn’t play 4K so no point wasting the space.
@InuManiac9066 жыл бұрын
Scott McKenna Gotcha, but will MediaZilla’s help burn UHD or 4K to blu-rays? You are usually only sending the 1080 digital files through MediaZilla to clients right? Thanks for the response.
@scottmckenna6 жыл бұрын
They’ll let you burn Blu Rays, but it’s not in 4K. The only place 4K is viewable to my clients is direct download, KZbin or Facebook.

Your videos are so relaxing!! Is your ultimate goal to hire more people to do everything for your video production company so you don't have to actively work on it anymore and continue to make full profit? And then just focus on KZbin and educational content?
@scottmckenna6 жыл бұрын
Hire more people so I don't have to work on it? No that's not my mentality at all, I will always be working on stuff in the company. In terms of filming and editing all day, yes I'm definitely looking to do less of that for the business because I'd rather hire people who do it even better. My focus will never be KZbin and Education, though there will be a ton of that. I'll be hiring people to help make that content as well. More content equals more people, equalling more opportunity.
