You do a long days work with a smile. Inspires me to keep going when I’m feeling lazy. Thanks for sharing all the fixit jobs. It’s satisfying to watch even if I have no clue what your fixing. Especially because you’re doing it so deftly and its not me with all the frustration I’d have. 😅 stay well. Oh, and to see you scratch a cow with affection made my day. Love the Cheetah.

@coc and ball torture In Kenya 🇰🇪 it's usually cold around July and August ( lowest maybe 8 degrees Celsius) and maybe April ( during the rainy season) other than that its sunny 🌞... It's in my bucket list to experience below 0 degrees 🥶

First time I ever watched your video and I really enjoyed it what a beautiful place you have I bet you're proud of it you should be! I watched two other dairy Farmers and you're a lot alike and a lot different really enjoy watching the cows being milked and how you take care of them you have a very clean place and your cows are also very clean I have a question though can I ask how old you are? If you don't mind you seem very knowledgeable for your age by the way that's a compliment! God bless you and your family for everything you do....

Hey Jan, great video! I have changed those ADF liners before cuz I work at Norwell Dairy, a dairy supplier. I found that if u soak the liners in hot water before u pull them through, the rubber seals around that little plastic spray nozzle better. Proly nit worth doing that for 1 inflation tho 😆

I’m of the thinking that there’s always a solution to any problem. Having said that, I definitely think there’s a solution to this ice coming through your fan openings. I can think of several right off the top of my head! However, since I know next to nothing about the dairy industry’s barn set ups, I wouldn’t know for sure about all the intricacies that would have to be taken into account for a workable solution. It may be just a simple solution for a simple problem!!

Question: Why are cows "dried off" ? What purpose is that for? Thanks.
@ipfreely100012 жыл бұрын
Cows need a dry period, usually 60ish days, as that last 2 mths the calf is growing fast, so their milk production drops off dramatically (in 99% of cows that is, there's always an odd one!!) It allows the cow chance to let the calf develop and the cow to put a little weight on ready for the nxt lactation. Also, by treating the udder, each quarter with a long acting antibiotic and/or a teat sealant, it allows the udder to rest, heal, be ready for the nxt lactation, producing to start with quality colostrum for her calf and then good quality milk and milk to her potential, hopefully, management allowing! I was a dairy manager in the UK 32 yrs, any more questions, ask away plz!!!
@Supernaut20002 жыл бұрын
@@ipfreely10001 Thank you Ian! I really appreciate this explanation to an "end consumer of milk" ! It is nice to see that good reputable dairy farmers look after their animals so well. Again, thanks.

Jan, If they would put a 90% elbow on top of those vents it would solve your problem with ice chunks dripping down in. If you put a screen on it will become just another thing to have to keep clean the elbow will just redirect air flow.

What is your opinion on becoming a worker on a dairy farm with no previous experience. I mean I can tell bull from cow and know to close gates after myself and have some mechanical experience. Would give me chance to be closer to my own hobby size farmland and pay is about as much as in office in town.

Hello. I would love for you to show us the difference in udders. I see that some are outrageously enormous, while others are smaller. Is this because of the age of the cow, OR length of time they have been milkers? It would be great if you could show us close ups of your most huge udders and tell us about those cows, how much they produce, how old they are etc.
