@@rossbaxter9621 well, truth be told I took the dairy job because it was all I could get locally and I wanted to build some more experience, I don't dislike it at all, but it's not my main interest in farming. When people tell you it's hard work, they're not lying! I did have a little experience already so I wasn't a stranger to farms, but I was still slightly taken aback at the workload. It is worse at this time of year as all the cows are indoors, which creates far more work in addition to milking, etc. I mainly now do the non-milking jobs, scraping out, bedding, feeding (all done with a different tractor and machine) as well as some requiring good old elbow grease! Try it if you think you'll like it. You'll either love it or hate it, but you'll never think of farming the same way again!

What a wonderful life it is to be a farmer, you get up in the morning, open the windows, and breath in the farmyard air. The grass is twittering, and the birds are green. Then go and milk the sheep, and sheer the cows. It's a hard life though, and sometimes i think it affects my thinking.

Here in Southern Africa, we take our herds out for grazing in the Savannah plain early in the morning and bring them back to the kraal in the evening! It's a tiresome job but we do it every day.

I started at a school that had a bunch of different educations, and as I said I chose the agricultural line and I was studying that for a year. I loved every minute of it, but felt like it wasn’t really what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So after a year I applied for another education at the same school and got in so now I have been studying transport/mechanic for a year and I’m starting my second year in a month. And it just fits me perfectly. Sorry for my poor English skills :/

I remember that specific Saturday, Saturday 15th December 2018, one of the worst weather days here in the south. We had gale force winds and heavy rain, all thanks to Storm Diedre who was wreaking havoc at our horse yard. At one point I went to empty a wheelbarrow after mucking out a horse, and I also nearly got knocked off the ground! You looked like you had better weather where you were.
