I just read East of Eden. It had been on my shelves for a little while but your classics video convinced me to finally pick it up. Loved it. Steinbeck truly is an amazing writer.

That blue eye shadow was perfection on you! also, loved the review on The Wayward Bus. I'll be adding it to my TBR. Love when books engage in character development in a more deeper way, the way Steinbeck does, so I'm all for it! P.S. Excited for the road trip videos!

I recently read Cannery Row. He was doing a similar thing with a bunch of characters, all stuck in one small town. It was super funny and slice of life and Americana. Enjoyed it very much.

Omg!!! The last book I finished was also The Guest!! I listened to it on audible, and liked it as well. Also its got such a cool cover. Currently reading Panama by Thomas McGuane because it was recommended as one of Denis Johnson's favorites. I dont know so much about the plot but Im loving the prose so far. And as always terrific video!!!
@meghanfaith2185 Жыл бұрын
Also random question but did you go to school for theater?
@AnaWallaceJohnson Жыл бұрын
I surprisingly really enjoyed The Guest! It was coincidentally when Oleg was in the Hamptons, so I felt like I was reading his imposter experience. I haven't read any Denis Johnson, but I know I'd love him and I feel like any of his recs would be great. And, nope, I didn't go to school for theatre (didn't go to school at all heheh). That was a fun, insightful book review. I want to re-read it now. I do remember poor Pimples wants respect. To me the book is like a play as well as Steinbecks The Moon is Down. Have you read The Remains of the Day by Ishiguro? So good.
@AnaWallaceJohnson Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much :)) Such great books in my presence lately :))) I really, really loved The Wayward Bus--though I think I knew I would. Haven't read any Ishiguro, actually! @@AnaWallaceJohnson the reason I ask is that I burnt myself on a book in what I perceive as inhabiting the same vein: "everyday contemporary fiction". The book was "The Other Hand" (alternative title "Little Bee") by Chris Cleave, which was SO bad it made me angry. So I'm a bit worried to stray again out of my normal haunts, genre-wise. I might give it a shot anyways :) thanks!
