Glad I’m not the only one who gets gassed when I have an install like that! Usually, once I see really severe fusion of the valve parts, I alert the customer to the possibility of minor damage to the porcelain and get them to sign off on it! Then I use my grinder to cut a deep notch from the top using a piece of sheet metal as a protective shield It is much quicker and easier on the body I’m 72 now! Keep up the good work

Hey, good job, from one plumber to another, I find using a Dremel tool with a small cutoff wheel extremely useful in removing the mounting nuts from underneath. Cut a notch through the nut then split it open with a large screwdriver, and yes I always tell the customer we need to bring this up to code by installing shut off valves. If they say go ahead, that's some extra money. If they say no, that's on them, but I rarely have them say no, don't put in stops.

Thanks Dennis! The Dremel tool is a great idea and I’ll definitely see if I can get my hands on one the next time I run into a situation like this. A vanity does not require shut offs according to our code book, they are just a convenience for the homeowner or plumber. However, I still agree with you, I do think I should give them the option for the convenience of shut off valves, and I will in the future. Thanks for the support Dennis! 🙏🤟✌️

Great vid. My second time replacing a faucet I encountered a similar issue. No power tools available. Ended up having to take a blade off a hacksaw and slide it between the sink and plate so I could cut the bolt. Soooooo gassed after that one.

"Do your best, screw the rest" best advice I have ever heard. As always, awesome video Ken. Couple of questions or random thoughts, I know tight space but in my past I have used heat to loosen up seized metals, maybe a torch would have helped you on this, not sure. As another plumber says on youtube. and you were almost there too, "When in doubt, cut it out" And last, why did you not go ahead and install angle stops on this one, so you in the future would not have to go to the main? Just wondering, as always keep up the great work, and tough jobs like this, isn't that what makes plumbing so "delicious"?
@Kennymolotov2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! I appreciate the questions as well. To be honest I have a bad habit of not offering options to the customer, because I worry that they will feel like I’m trying to get money from them. But I need to change that, because if it’s in their benefit, they should know. I like the idea of the torch, so I will have to try that in the future!

Let's go KENNY. Way to give a realistic video on the carnage we gotta go through sometimes to do something that a homeowner thinks is easy.

Also found in changing washers and ones where the whole breach moves underneath . In order not to break the tee piece . I would wedge a tube shifter under to support

Hey Kenny fantastic video! I was wondering if you can give me some advice. I live in Toronto and I've been trying to get into the plumbing field. I've applied to many apprentices but I can't find any work. I do not have any plumbing experience and it seems like everyone is looking for an apprentice with at least 2-3 years of experience. Anyway amazing videos! You've got a new subscriber!

I really appreciate the support friend! I would try looking up the organization called “Support Ontario Youth” and see if they can help you out. If not, then continue sending resumes and also going to plumbing companies to introduce yourself.
