I'm just starting. I am an Army Veteran. I feel overwhelmed with all the fluff out here. I just want a structured plan. Then I want to do projects so I can really learn how to solve problems. I feel like I need a mentor or some guidance. 🤔 I just don't want to waste my time I've got 6 months of free time. I want to study like it's a job for the next 6 months. Any solid advice would be Golden. Also very much appreciated. Edit just to say "Yoooo your home is Smart"😂 minimalistic yet homely great job!!!

@@RyanNaini really want to start a career. I've got 6-8 months of time to study like it's a job/ back in school. So I want to use my time wisely. Learn exactly what I would need on a job and job specific skills I'll learn on the job.

@@RyanNaini web and app development. I want both honestly. But I'm open to learning it in order? If there is one lol.
@RyanNaini3 ай бұрын
@@adriennec6033I would recommend focusing in on one, your choice honestly. For web development, you’re gonna want to follow the traditional web development roadmap. To start, you need to learn html and css followed by JavaScript, as this will give you the foundation of frontend development. I recommend following super simple dev tutorials on KZbin as he has a whole series dedicated to this. Also learn how to use the terminal and GitHub fork super simple dev.
@RyanNaini3 ай бұрын
@@adriennec6033 alright so I would recommend starting with one, specifically web development. I am only a high school student, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I did however self teach myself web development over the past year, and if I could do it, you certainly can. To start, you need to learn the basis of web development: HTML, CSS, and JS. I recommend using the courses made by super simple dev for this. He explains everything really well for beginners, and will walk through and assign projects to practice skills. No fluff with this dude. Also, I would learn git and github from this guy too after learning html and css as this will allow you to save your code online. Linked below are his courses -HTML and CSS: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWTIXpamgZyinMU -Javascript: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5bVlXqjYsqbgLM This will teach you EVERYTHING about the foundation of web development. Try building a project utilizing all these skills after completing both courses. You will receive mini projects within each course to do. If you are really dedicated and work extremely hard (which you prob are), you can learn this in two months are less. Quick warning, JavaScript will be confusing at first and know this is completely normal, just keep going and eventually you get the hang of it. Once you learn these three, everything from here is going to be so much easier. I would also recommend seeing what other self taught developers did on their journey. One youtuber I would watch for this is Jason Goodison who made a video on how he would code if here were to start over. Additionally, you should look at the web development roadmap made by web dev simplified as this will outline everything you need to know. There is a course on udemy that covers an entire full stack roadmap (frontend and backend): www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-web-development-bootcamp/ However it is paid and I don't know if it is worth the money or not. After going through your foundation, you will want to learn the other technologies on the roadmap. If Next.js is on there, don't worry about it, you can learn this later if you need too. Finding courses is the hardest thing to do as a self taught dev, so see what courses some other people use. Freecodecamp is another great resource, and I recommend learning React.js off there. As for mentors, this is a litte difficult, but here is what I found - A software engineer on reddit offered free mentorship a year ago, here is his post to check out if you are interested: www.reddit.com/r/learnjavascript/comments/13vr6os/free_mentorship_in_software_engineering/ -There is also something called www.underdogdevs.org/ that offers swe mentorship Sorry for the late reply, I wish you the best of luck on your journey, you got this! If you need any help or have more questions, fell free to ask here. I wrote this out once, but then it got deleted 😢lol, so here is the second version which I think is a lil better. P.S - Thanks for your service
