Love the content. You seem to have been in the industry for a while now. So I want to know what are engineers such as yourself expecting from a fresh grad in terms of their skills and which softwares are most common in the Aussie market.
@BrendanHasty4 жыл бұрын
Hi Qsama, thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoy the content. I will likely put a video together on this, as a fresh grad it is not expected for you to know any software and knowledge will be limited to university and some self study, however, it would be beneficial to know spacegass Rapt and RamConcept. As for knowledge you grades and majorering in Stuctural subjects, knowledge on Steel design including connections, cpncrete column and slab design both PT and RC to Australian standards is also beneficial. A willingness to learn and a solid understanding understanding of structural mechanics is a must, there is lot to know as a engineer and you have only really started your journey when you start your first job. Compared to what I know now to when I was a graduate, is a mountain of knowledge and I am still climbing.

@@BrendanHasty Thank you for answering my query in detail. I'll be looking forward to the video :) Also if you can, it'd be interesting to get a fresh grad/ trainee engineer's perspective on it as well. Cheers .

Hi Ba Sick, thanks for stopping by. Python programming is something all engineers should focus on and will be a shift in the industry in the future. Learn a programming language allows you to greatly speed up your workflows. I will be producing a series of videos on how I program in python.

Hi. I'm a civil engineering student in south africa and I'd like to know how programming is involved in civil engineering. We did programming for a semester last year, and yes it was fun and interesting, especially the semester project where we had to run a program for an ATM. In all this i did not see how programming fits into the world of civil engineering. Please tell me where and when do you use coding in civil engineering

Hi @Lwandile, thanks for watching. how far through your course are you? I highly recommend you pick up a programming language, it will help you greatly as an engineer. I will make a video around this as it is important for engineers to know the power of programming

In which area of Civil Engineering there is more Money. Currently I AM in final Year. And wanted to make my Career in structure engineering. But I sometimes get dissapointed by searching on KZbin that structure Engineers are get paid very less compared to Software engineers
@BrendanHasty4 жыл бұрын
Generally working in transport/ infrastructure and you will get a better paycheck, and they need structural engineers, it is also becoming common for engineers to know programming this will hopefully lead to better pay in the future. But state of play at the moment structural engineering pay isn't great. Hopefully that will change.
