Mate, amazing video as always,I was thinking maybe if you can provide us with a detailed video series on a real world structure design project, it will be very insightful for us

The Software Engineering industry can learn a lot from this work flow and ownership of your work. It seems your very autonomous and handle the entire project lifecycle. Great

Hi great video! I have a question for when getting a job as a fresh graduate structural engineer. Does the company train you on how to carry out calculations and designs through the software?
@BEngHielscher
@BEngHielscher 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! You definitely will get some guidance but you will still need to spend a lot of time figuring things out yourself. Textbooks and any other sort of guiding resource will be your best friend

amazing video mate. love your content. just a question: what sort of software do you use for your designs (especially modelling) and analysis and what other good ones would you recommend to a fellow structural engineer? (i've started using SAP2000 btw) :)

Hey could you explain what part of design proces you do in software and what part you do hand calculations. In Europe a lot of engineers do almost everything in design software
@BEngHielscher
@BEngHielscher 8 ай бұрын
Anything that I can do quickly do by hand, I do by hand. For example this could be loading calculations, simple shear force or bending moment equation calcs or even just notes about design assumptions I’ve made along the way. Any design tasks that are more complex, I will use software to do, but where I can avoid it I will. Sometimes using software can eat up way more time than just doing a quick hand calc so I find it’s more efficient to know how to do quick things by hand.
