A Day in the Life of an *Online* Stanford Student

In case anyone is interested: Harvard basically gave all their students 5 days to pack their stuff and move out. This is obviously a huge issue for international students, FLI students, students with disabilities, etc. They also said very few exceptions would be made for people to stay on campus, but they would provide financial assistance, in the form of a LOAN despite their huge endowment. My high school has no online alternative during our break, and I expect everything around me to start shutting down soon (for good reason). Any recommendations for how to spend the time?

Of course! I understand you’ll be home with time to spare. I recommend applying to scholarships (there’s some out there for every grade level), researching colleges and/or summer opportunities and internships, starting an online business/youtube channel, relaxing/watching movies or tv shows, spending time with loved ones, reading, etc. basically just invest in yourself, keep up with the news, and stay safe! 💞

Remember when I said "oh nothing happened in North Dakota so far!" Well I got an update on that. They told us students who are leaving for spring break should stay off campus and we have online classes from the 23rd of March till April 4th. They are still allowing other students to stay on campus if they cant leave due to reasons and they need people to sign like a form like you said so they have a head count on who's here. They also made a mention to anyone who is leaving can comeback only if they have like flight courses or they have a on campus job if their employer wants them to keep working. It didnt seem so bad because I already had my flight book for coming back home but I have my chem lab and choir class that is gonna be weird online. So far I've been getting emails from my professors on how online classes are gonna work. So that's the situation I have with North Dakota. Kids who are pretty much getting evicted from their dorm rooms breaks my heart because I'm hearing stories that kids dont wanna come home because their environment is toxic for them. I hope everything is going well with your hometown because everything where I'm at got canceled or postponed because of the virus. Be safe with everything going on!

i’m glad!! and that’s been an ongoing issue, each class/professor has different policies. Some professors record + post the lecture for students to watch while some have live lecture that students must sign on at a specific time (which is an issue for students in different time zones/international students). I would hope that the professors save and post the lecture and waive attendance requirements under the circumstances to make it more fair for all students. good question! and congratulations!! 🎉 🌲
