Southside, OZ and some Producers like them still use FL 11 because they claim Image-Line changed the overall way FL 11's hard hitting sound (especially on 808s) by changing the "FX" knob's algorithm (it's called "BOOST" now). Then Image-Line rejected these allegations multiple times by announcing and explaining that nothing has changed on FL Studio since after all the versions came out after 11 in 2015. I'm using FL Studio since version 9 and I don't agree what those producers claiming (I’m also a producer, engineer and a rapper. I’m making music for a loooong ass time). So without needing to dealing with those version 11’s clunky UI, bugs, features here’s what you can do; 1 - If you have some money to buy one or two plugins to making hard ass beats, you can buy “Gold Clip” by Schwabe Digital or “Oxford Inflator” by Sonnox, or you can buy both to use on different circumstances. And they both have good and Simple User Interface. Gold Clip is a Clipper with cool feature like: faders for peak and clipping, box tone, clipper type etc. This plugin is very new and hot these days! Oxford Inflator neither a compressor nor a limiter, so you won’t get any of the pumping effects associated with compression but it does make drums hit harder; especially 808s and basses. It can expose unheard frequency sounds. The UI is very simple just 4 faders and 3 buttons, that’s it! It can be used both on mixer and master channels. 2 - If you don’t have money: Use Fruity Soft Clipper but before putting it crank up the input a bit or Add Parametric EQ then make an evenly boosting deep lows, mid mid, and the highs starting after the 5k to the end. Lastly play with Clipper’s Slope knob.
